This looks decent for $87. [ame="https://www.amazon.com/unlocked-Cellphone/dp/B00LB9ZJGO/ref=sr_1_41?ie=UTF8&qid=1476412779&sr=8-41&keywords=unlocked+phones+under+100"]Amazon.com: Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini G730A Unlocked Cellphone, Blue: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

It'll work on Cricket or any other GSM carrier with the proper sim card. I use an S5 on Cricket myself. I like Cricket's large AT&T coverage area and the fact that if you use up all your high speed data you still get 2G data until your plan restarts.

Download maps of your route at home on wifi, and you won't even need data. You can do this with Google maps nowadays as well as alternative map programs. I have Map Factor which uses free downloaded maps. You download Texas and any other states that you'll be visiting at home on wifi and use them on the go without using data. The user interface is a bit clunky, but it works well with turn by turn navigation once you figure out its quirks.

I need one with GPS/internet capability as im going to-hopefully by November? use my car in one of those ride-share programs in order to make a bit more.

In that case, a phone of any kind is not the best choice. Instead, get a device specifically designed to assist with navigating a car to a specified address. They do this by speaking driving instructions out loud. There is no need to look at a screen and possibly have an accident, or just miss a turn. Plus they contain up to date street maps of pretty much the entire country.

A few ago, I got a cheapie TomTom for Xmas.
It works pretty good!
It has more boon dock NM roads and locations loaded than I could believe.
And Kim Cantrell telling you what to do!
I usually had her turned off.
She can get bossy and pushy!
Once over on the Tonto Rim, I was headed downhill on a nice new four lane highway.
Kim was screaming at me that I was on a dangerous mountain road.
Apparently I was on a new road not in my data base.
With the cheapie unit, I didn't get updates without paying.
Kim! I'm ok! Enough already!

All smartphones do. Many new smartphones are cheap or free when signing a service contract.

But for just a phone... you can pick up used iPhones like the 4 and others for $100. With my old iPhone 4s the GPS/Navigation works without cell service. Just use a wi-fi connection, ask for directions, and then it's all loaded on the phone for that trip. After that, the GPS works just like a Garmin while you're driving. That said, there is no rerouting or any changes you can make to the route unless you reconnect to another wi-fi service.

Thank you and ill look into those as well. I know thisis a dumb question but, who sells those Imphones? Ill be spending the late morning/afternoon going to different stores.

Need your your help on choosing what kind of cell phone that gets internet and GPS on it. I need one in the price range of between $50 but no more than $100-please.

What about a regular GPS? I think I have one that I'm no longer using that could be updated. If I can find it, it's yours. No charge. Just give me a day or two. ;)

iPhones are sold on every corner of planet Earth. Kinda like asking who sells Diet Coke. :D

Are you planing on getting a smartphone with a data plan? If so, you'll learn all you want to know by visiting places like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile... or go to BestBuy. With a new contract or service, you'll likely end up better with a new smart phone (whatever brand) from the provider than trying to pick up a used phone then a separate plan. But there are a zillion sites like these selling used iPhone 4 for $50-$100. Buy a Used iPhone 4 | Glyde

Right. There's a zillion used Garmins selling for next to nothing. Problem is, most don't have updated maps. A one-time map update is usually around $50 or more, right? Walmart sells a Garmin with lifetime maps updates for $100. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Garmin-NUVI55LM-nuvi-5-GPS-with-Lifetime-Maps/45832235

That's really nice of you. What phone service would it require? I SHOULD have everything done today as for getting my car tax, title, licence and crossing the tee shortly..

Im also having mucho wifi probs today and its not letting me in to certain areas here much, so if anyone PMs me? ill have to wait till I get somewhere where it works. The public rta-wifi-isnt working.

Id forgot we had a best Buy here. Its ben so long since ive been able to get independantly around (bus only last several years) but I will enjoy getting to places ive not been able to. One thing I am grateful for, is I know most of the area like the back of my hand-so shoouldnt have much problem finding who I need to find.

A GPS with map updates is probably your best bet.
Does Uber have a GPS - Smartphone requirement?

I believe they do. Its been hard for me to access any real info do to very poor internet connection these past weeks. We have aat least two ride share services here-tride and I forgget the name of the other? Uber pulled out because our "illustrious" city council-who I agree on this with, said they require that the companies do background checks-but Uber refused so closed business here. Im for doing driver background checks-and even fingerprinting. I want to make as sure as possible--im not carrying someone who isnt a serious or legal (for lack of better wording) passenger.

GPS units like Garmin don't require phone service. They operate via satellite and the internal software & mapping in each unit. Once you buy the unit there is no ongoing service costs.

You would do well to go to BestBuy and spend some time with one of the young folks there to get an understanding of the basics, as well as what is required of this ride-share venture you're getting into. No sense trying to select a specific smartphone or GPS unit for that which you don't have an underlying knowledge of the basics. It's like trying to explain why S&W quality is worthwhile or autoloader vs revolver to someone who doesn't know what a gun is.
Good luck.

I use a $100 LG L44VL Rebel LTE that is a prepaid phone from Tracfone. Buy Airtime | No Contracts or Monthly Bills | TracFone Wireless Tracfone contracts with most all the major carriers to handle their traffic. My phone actually is running on the Verison network, and has a Verision e-mail to text, email address. Go to the Tracfone website and look at the phones they have available for your area. The models they have available vary by home zip code depending on which carrier they are using in your area. Look for a phone that is 4-G, and has the most current Android OS. Adroid OSs are alphabetically named for candies. My first $100 LG Android was 3-G using the (K) Kitkat OS. My current LG Android is 4-G using the (L) Lollipop OS. The most current Adroid OS is (N) Nugart I think. I've used Tracfone for over 10 years now, and it works for me.

Edit: The one pictured on the left is the 4-G LTE Lollipop. The older phone is inactive, but works on Wi-Fi.
