I have a fox starting to hunt our poultry, I need a good flashlight that will mount on a quadrail for after dark target ID and to shoot with. Would appreciate any recommendations from you all that have these things on your rifles. Thank You

Where I will be shooting I dont have to worry about shooting anyones houses, there arent any, but I dont like to spray and pray but I would like to get the eyes to shine back at me!!

At what distance do you plan on engaging the fox? This will help us estimate and recommend lumen output. Then it will also help us to form an opinion on beam pattern, wide, narrow, range of adjustment.

A while back I bought a flashlight with the brand name FENIX. At the time it really was a lot of bang for the buck. I think it was sub $60 and the max is 205 lumens. It has an electronic circuit that lets it burn full through most of the battery life. And, most important of all, it uses AA batteries. Good luck finding those C123 lithium jobs if the poop hits the fan some day. I did not buy it for tactical purposes, but I am sure somebody makes a bracket to use it as such. Just mainly wanted you to have that brand name in front of you to do a Google search. Keep us posted. ADD: Did not mean to disparage the light mentioned just above. In fact that post was not there when I wrote mine. I just had using AA batteries on my priority list when I purchased my Fenix. Above light does seem like a great deal.

If you want the absolute best of the best, I recommend the Elzetta series of flashlights. Elzetta lights com in different head styles, lengths, beam patterns and lumen outputs. They make mounts for the light also.

Just to add, I've used and been happy with Fenix, Olight, and Surefire. I like the new 200 lumen (6px?) just because they are light, so they don't change the weapon balance as much as heavier lights. I have no experience with the PA light I linked, but I do know that they (PA) are stand up with their customer service, so I would would recommend them on that basis. They have been very responsive to me on past orders, and will go above and beyond on making things right.

This is a Streamlight M3. I've had it mounted on this Bushmaster XM-15E2S for several years now and it, along with an ADCO 3moa Red Dot, has served me well...

Another option might be a shotgun, such as "The Beast", second from the bottom in the below photograph, with a SureFire forend...

I like the Streamlight products. They aren't exactly cheap, but their warranty and customer service is every bit as good as S&W. I sent back a broken TLR-3 without any proof of purchase and they sent me a new one in return, no questions asked.

You can get a TLR-1s HP long gun package that produces 200 lumens and has everything you need to mount it with a remote switch for about $150.

Streamlight polytac LED may be the best bang for the buck. Bright as ****** $35 and fits in any 1" mount. The run time is not as good as the Surefires but the push switch is nicer.

Thanks for the quick responses...was out sighting in the FrankenSport and let my Preacher shoot the CyberSport, so now he is asking just how much was the Original Rifle, He wants a Sport pretty badly we were only shooting about 60 yards give or take a couple of feet, and after he blew the bullseyes out of a couple of targets he is hooked. He really liked the FrankenSport but he really like the 6-24 scope over the 3-9. I figure the longest distance will be between 100 and 125 feet, I guess I could use one of my shotguns but I thought one of my AR's would give me accurate follow up shots. I have never mounted a light to a rifle, I had a laser on my pistol once but wasnt impressed with it. Thanks I will check out some of these recommendations and get back with you all.

I've got a Polytac on mine too, until I can get the Elzetta that is. Using a Impact Weapons Components mount to hold it up.

thanks again...I went out right before sunset, the Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 gathers light real well. I got two quick views of the fox but where I had situated myself I would have been shooting toward the center of town, not a good thing, its only a town of 250 people and I would have been shooting toward the little restaurant. I am going to order a light tomorrow, my birthday is Wednesday and I get Bday cards with money in them so....but thanks for all your help, it is a beautiful little red fox.

I knew where he was going to be and just dispatched him, I hated to do it, he was such a beautiful Red Fox, Male just a couple of years old. It least it was quick. One more bullet to load!!
