NEI .451 Trash Can

As requested this is some of the information on an NEI mold I have been messing around with. It is a full wadcutter design, measures out at .451, supposed to weigh in at 220 gr. but in a 1:20 mix comes out at 260 gr. I loaded them up in new Starline .45 Auto Rim brass, WLP primers and 5.0 gr. of Red Dot. Took them to the range with my cut down 1917 and had a good time. I did notice a bit of spray above the forcing cone, other than that nothing to speak of through 50 rounds. I have a tough time with fixed sights but if point of aim is held they will make a mess of a target without a good backing, with a good backing they cut perfectly round holes in a nice tight group.

I am wondering what just 4.4 grs of Red Dot would produce in a light target load ?

Those big bore full wadcutters are pretty neat. They won't fly straight over distance like a SWC, and aren't likely to track as well in meat either. But always thought they would work well from a snubby big bore belly gun.

I use the SAECO 453, a 235-240 grain full wad cutter. I put them in ACP cases and use hardball doses of Bullseye. Not tried them seriously at 100 yards but they fly true to at least 50 and give complete penetration on white tails.

I bet if cast with right alloy / lube & sized to throats ( assuming they drop fat enough ) they'd would shoot good .

I have one of those, but without digging it out I recall that it was meant to cast 250-grain bullets. How is yours stamped?

.451/220 NEI Double checked to make sure. I have a hard cast mix in another pot that is 50/50 lead/linotype it would probably perform better, this was the pot I had ready to go hooked up to the controller. I think 4.5 grs would produce better accuracy, I have them intended as crowd pleasers currently. Shot up the entire batch, have no pictures currently.

I've played around with the "Trash Can Wad Cutter" for a bit and loaded them in 32, 38 and 44 calibers. All of my molds were from Accurate. They are very accurate to 25 yards which is the limit of my indoor range. The .32 was 100gr, the 38/357 160gr and the .44 was 220gr. This was a demo photo, not loaded rounds.
