Star BM 9mm review

I will let you know. Even though I had one I bought 6 years ago, when I saw the ad at $149, I couldn't resist any longer. I'll post some pics when it arrives in a few days. I did not do a hand select for $20.

I received it...and it was a DOG. Significant pitting and rust all over the slide and frame. Worse - I could barely get the barrel bushing due to rust on the barrel and the bushing. ID of the barrel looked about .32 caliber there was so much rust.

Century agreed to take it back ONLY because of the reduced functionality of the barrel/bushing. Said if it hadn't been for that, it would have been tough noogies.

Ok, here's some better photos of my $150, "fair" condition Star BM from Classic (the replacement after returning the first one)

After searching around some, I now have some grips on the way. Got them off ebay, a seller in Turkey (not KSD, I think he goes by Terek Arms). Has a lot of nice grips for different models, at decent prices.

I'm getting walnut, plain checkered (like the plastic OEM but wood). I looked at a lot of the stuff online, but didn't want it to be too ornate. Got a pair for each pistol, will post when they arrive.

Found this 3 year old thread after buying a BM this morning at a LGS. Quick look at GB shows that prices have gone up a bit in the last 3 years. So I think I did OK. I paid $350 OTD for a very nice BM, in a cigar box with Spanish language manual, cleaning rod and 4 mags. Century imported it and the box has an AIM Surplus sticker on it. Under the AIM sticker is another sticker that I am guessing is from Century. Most of the info on it is covered but I can see DATE:01/30/18 TIME: 12:43:07 USER NAME: NWELLS
I've ordered a new recoil spring and mag springs from Wolff, just as preventive maintenance. Couldn't find a FP spring. Any ideas on where to find one?

I only skimmed the thread but I didn't see one 'bm' joke. I'm disappointed in you, internet.

Ive had the Star 9mm 1911s before and the Achilles heel of that gun is the magazines. They are expensive and difficult to find especially new ones are practically none existent so you are forced to buy crudy roached out used magazines for a hefty price. Made the gun a no go for me for long term use. Also parts are hard to unless you buy another pistol. Contrary to popular belief they have nothing compatible with the 1911 aftermarket either which makes them another no go for me.

My favorite 9mm pistol! well made and easy to disassemble. I took the mag safety off mine for a lot better trigger. It's accurate and fits my 1911 holsters.
