Poor selection on netflix as far as I was concerned. I took a 30 day trial and found mostly old movies and not too many worth watching. I canceled almost immediately. Try the 30 day trial.

If it weren't for sporting events, I would drop Dish Network. We watch Netflix all of the time, but don't watch regular TV except for the sporting events. We don't watch regular TV much, so the old series shows are new to us. If you've watched a lot of regular TV, you may have seen the shows already. We don't watch Movies too much on Netflix.

If you get Netflix, check out the streaming boxes by Roku on Amazon. I've used a Sony blu-ray player and a Wii to stream Netflix. The Sony worked fine, but the Wii didn't as well. I bought the more expensive Roku that does HD and has Angry Birds built into it. It cost around $85 and works great.

The selection on Netflix doesn't update that fast. I watched a ton of stuff before but now, not so much. However, I also got Amazon Prime instant video so that helps supplement it. Watch both on my PS3.

Last month I bought a new HDTV and it came with Netflix loaded in. They offered a free trial membership and I did take them up on it. Quite honestly, there's almost nothing there that I have not already seen that is worth watching, so I cancelled it.

I currently have Verizon and I get ALL the premium channels (HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX, ENCORE, yada, yada, yada) but usually wind up watching either the History Channel, The Military Channel, or TMC which has all the old movies that I prefer. Basically there are just not that many good movies out there regardless of what service one has. :(

Me too, History, Discovery, Military but here's the poke in the behind. To get those channels I have to buy the bundle plan and I'm spending a bundle on the bundle to watch a half dozen channels.
I remember motels that had TVs that took a quarter if you wanted to watch and how much that annoyed me. Look where we ended up. I would never have believed we would be spending the kind of money we do for TV, or for drinking water.

Netflix has a hard time selling their streaming level service (the $8/month deal) since they have to secure licensing to run certain movies and TV shows. I'd try the 30 day membership and see how you like it.

Curtis I have Dish network and every so often they give us 3 days of HBO and you dont find to much that you have not already seen, I have a friend that is carried away with net flix but like you he gets it over the internet, I would sure give it a try. Jeff

I have netflix. Since I like all the older TV show and movies it's worth the $8 a month to me.
The only complaint I have is that some movies that 'were' available online dissapear sometimes. But I like alot of the old stuff so WTH it's cheap enough to try. If you don't like it you can drop it without any problem.

I had Netflix but cancelled after the 30 day free trial - old movies already had watched - limited streaming movies, much larger selection on the mail out DVD program, but the instant movies is what I wanted. I found that they carried the same movies that I can purchase with Dish on their pay per view. FWIW none of the services offer great movies IMHO.

We've had Netflix for a while now. Well worth the $8/mo.

There's a ton of TV shows that the wife and I have never seen. What's good is that you can watch the first couple episodes and if you like it you can keep on watching show after show, season after season, without having to wait a week between shows. Wife is watching Mad Men right now. She likes it but I don't care for it much. We were big 24 fans but only watched the last 3 or 4 seasons. Netflix had all 8 seasons so we watched all the seasons we missed. Took 2 or 3 months to watch them all. Netflix is also producing their own content. I recently watch the first season of Lilyhammer with Steven Van Zandt.

Is Netflix a replacement for cable programing? No. But along with Apple TV I don't think we watch cable much anymore other than for sports.

For $8 Netflix is about free anyway... might as well check it out.

Netflix used to give you streaming and mail movies and shows for $8. They made a big mistake by seperating them. The membership went way down so their selection has probalbly suffered. Too bad. I only have the mail service and I'm probably going to cancel. The movies I get in the mail just sit around unwatched so I'm wasting ammo money.
