Just picked up a brand new 15-22. I got the basic model with the threaded barrel and A1 comp. I later added some Magpul MOE stuff and a Primary Arms M3. I did my research and made sure it was a later serial number (DVA) and had all blue springs.

Took it home and gave it a quick cleaning and lube. Took it to the range and put 200 rounds of CCI Mini Mags through it with zero problems. I then put about a box of Federal Auto Match (325) through it with zero problems.

I have to say that I love this gun! It is my new favorite gun to take to the local indoor range, so much fun.

Now for my question. First off this is my first 22lr and I have no previous rimfire experience. My question is regarding ammo, the difference between copper washed ammo and lead nosed ammo. I have tried to do my research on this subject but keep reading and getting mixed opinions. Some say only use copper ammo because the lead nose will foul your barrel. Some say only use high end lead nose and you don't have to worry about it. I plan one using the Federal Auto Match because it is reliable in my gun, a good price, and my local wally world carries it. It is a lead nose bullet but appears to have a waxy lube on the bullet. Am I fine running hundreds of rounds of this ammo through my gun? or should I look for a copper alternative?

I love this gun to! I only use copper bullets. lead and the wax ones just make a mess. I use federal and cci and have had no probs thousands of rounds with a miss fire her and there but that's rim fires for you.
