Got a new 27-9 as my dedicated.357 testing platform and I’m very pleased with it. Was very tight on the cyl open and close but after 90 magnums she loosened up perfect. These handloads were mid level AA7 under an eggelston 158 swc. “Should” be about 1100fps. Nice amount of recoil and pleasant to shoot magnums for once! Ive shot very hot magnums in lighter guns— not fun! This is perfect.

I have a 6.5” model 27-9 that is very accurate. I only bought it because it was offered to me NIB unfired for a ridiculously low price.

I am not a fan of the frame locks however I have to say that this revolver is just as accurate as my two (4” & 6”) 28-2 Highway Patrolman revolvers.

I hear ya about the lock.. I’m over it. The lock guns have been trouble free and some of the best shooters I have. I don’t mind this one. Glad to have a Cadillac 357 gun in the safe!

I bought a 27-9 new back in 2012. It’s been an enjoyable and reliable high volume shooter ever since. If S&W revamps their revolver line with the lock eliminated, I might be inclined to adding another.
