The catalog says 500000 1978 t0 1980. and 600000 1979 t0 1980.
You're right on the money.

I just fell into a deal on a 1979 4-inch version, never knew I needed one until now. This makes my 10th S&W revolver. I remember thinking as a kid how someday if I could own ten guns, I'd never need any others. Ha!
