Traded for this today in a LGS. It is a Model 29-5 serial BPT5439. I have a couple of K frames, both with square butts and was surprised to see that this one is rounded. Noticed because it had a nice wood stock but there was a void in the back strap where it curved into the stocks. That was almost a deal breaker for me but the seller gave me this other grip which I stripped and wiped with BLO. My question is approximately when was a made, and was the firing pin supposed to be blued? My K and J frame are not. Is there some thing to fill the space and use the other grip, I do like the way it feels in the hand.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Model 29-5 serial BPT5439.

September 1993, give or take.

There is a way, and guys who will do it for a fee, convert a square butt grip to fit a round butt frame. By the time you do all that, it would be simpler to just buy a round-to-square conversion grip and be done with it.
