Hi all, I don't bother with much online selling or buying for parts but came into these by accident and felt someone here might need them. I recently took a chance on some stocks the seller thought were K-frame targets, and they turned out on arrival to be very obviously N-frame Square Butt targets (as you can see from the stampings 'NT' on the inside panels, pics below).
Particularly for the age these are overall in pretty clean shape with some minor wood rub on the inside edge of the checkering inletting, which I've shown as best as possible in the pics - these are extremely minor and hard to see; they may be natural variations in the wood from when originally made but am mentioning here for full disclosure. As also shown, the shoulder on the RH side has just the slightest bit of rounding at the back shoulder edge. They appear to display the black oxide washers rather than the steel/metal finish S&W switched to in the early-mid 1970s. It is my guess that these would hail from either the late 1960s or very early 1970s, as they display the football cutout and checkering seen from '68-'83; the stocks-reference thread below states the black washers were discontinued in approx. 1971. Given these are 54+ years old, they may have been carefully refinished at some point, *upon closer look there does seem to be slight excess laquer at the edges though I've seen this on older factory grips as well. For precaution's sake, I'd advise be aware these MAY have been cleaned at some point, but checkering is good and presents nicely. The wear shown appears, to my aging eyes, to be honest overall. Screw fits and is not stripped or chewed away at the head, as you can see.
In looking at the thread @Hoosier45 started some time back, I also at least *think* these were originally for a Model 28 as they bear the marking 'NT 38' - I'm no grip/stock expert; much of historical this information is pulled from the following thread: https://smith-wessonforum.com/threads/smith-wesson-n-frame-stocks-grips-a-reference-guide.549200/
Asking $115 OBO shipped w/in CONUS, payment via Venmo only (had a very unpleasant experience with Paypal not long back) - while I've not sold much here I am happy to provide extensive refs on several reddit boards where I trade high-end watches and fountain pens as two of my other hobbies. No returns or exchanges; please make sure these are what you are looking for - and feel free to ask anything if in doubt!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions; stocks (including screw) will be shipped from Boise, ID area. First "I'll take it" will as per tradition trump any inquiries or messages, but I will respond to any questions as speedily as possible. Cheers and thanks for looking guys.
