...glad S&W did right by you. I agree the gun looks great. I say follow your plan...get it nice and broken-in. After a good range session and cleaning, it will start to feel like a part of the stable. It is always a good idea to test run & prove a weapon before betting your protection & ultimately your life on it. Happy shooting & all the best.

Gun looks great and I would have no trouble trusting it as a CCW. Shoot it and enjoy it. Many S&W's, even those with longer barrels appear to have a downward tilt. As db posted, I think that it is just an illusion created by the taper and curve of the barrel. Look online at some of the photos in gun auctions and you will notice the same thing quite frequently.:D

Looks about perfect. These are great little revolvers for CCW. You should get many years of trouble free shooting out of it. I would put some rounds down range to "proof" the gun and just learn how to shoot a J-Frame snubbie. They are quite accurate with practice. Have fun with it.

GO SHOOT IT ALREADY!

I agree 100%. From your new pictures, your 442 looks excatully like mine, and mine is only 1.5 months old.

I only fired mine 50 rounds through mine and made it my every day carry gun.

SHOOT IT!!!!!!!!!! AND ENJOY!!!!!!!!

Thanks!!

Thanks alot, guys! I really appreciate all the feedback! I'm gonna take it out to the range next Wednesday with a couple buddies and break it in. I'll let you know how the range time goes and I'll hopefully be adding a set of LG-405's or 305's in the next week or so. Oh, and I was looking at an older thread on the forum that showed barrels on 442's being marked differently and maybe being SS with a black finish vs Blued Carbon Steel? I noticed my old barrel had all the markings on the left side of the barrel and my new one has the caliber on the left and "SMITH & WESSON" on the right. *Is there anything "special" or different about these barrels or is it just a cosmetic thing?* Thanks again, everyone -Rob

Picture 1 is my old "crooked" barrel

Pictures 2 & 3 are the new barrel they just replaced the "crooked" one with

Get out and shoot it!!!! I just purchased a 442 Pro last month on leave to replace my old 442 that I had for 15yrs before I sold it. Never had any issues with them. Only bad part is mine is sitting in the safe as I'm down range and not sitting in my pocket. Damn Army regs!

Hey, Combat_Diver. Where they got you working at? I'm with the 5th Stryker Brigade, 2ID. We just got back a couple months ago. My unit worked in Zabul, Kandahar, and Helmand...most of our work was in Helmand. It was rough, but things are getting way out of control now...it's crazy. I'm in the process of trying to waive my dwell time so I can get back over put in some more work.

Good luck and stay safe! -SPC Robinett

I have the LG-405's on my 642 and love them. They make shooting the revolver easy, even with pretty stout loads. The sides of the grip are still hard plastic so it works very well in a pocket holster. I had the 305's at first and sold them. They were just too hard to get use to and did not work well in my hand. It made shooting the gun hurt:mad:.

Thanks for the info, alde. I've been trying to decide whether I should go with the 405's or 305's for a while now, I even posted a thread. I appreciate all the input I can get on these two models of laser grips. I'm leaning towards the 405's because they seem easier to pocket carry (which will be my primary carry mode). I held a display model J with 305's, and it did seem a little "weird". Even with the added length, it felt kind of alien to me vs. the factory grip....I was thinking that weird feeling would probably only get stronger while shooting. Thanks again -Rob

Generally stay in Salerno but bounce around from Bagram, Shank, Ghazni, ,Kabul, Jalaband and Sharana (all of RC East). Been over here since Jun 09 and had have til Jul 11 then I'm done. Only been home 6 mos since I retired! Glad you made it home in one piece. Enjoy your 442. The specs on the 442 Pro has a stainless steel cylinder (thats been blued) but with a carbon blue barrel.
