Hi all--
Quick question: I have a new 442 with approx 100 rounds through it. I noticed that some very fine scoring has developed, running along the surface around the back part of the cylinder, in between the notches. Is this normal? Please note that I'm new to revolvers.

Many Thanks

If you're talking about a mark like in this photo, yes it's perfectly normal. It's where the cylinder stop rubs against the cylinder.

Is it the circumference of the cylinder between the notches? If so, this is normal, part of the bolt lock up. Almost all S&W revolvers have a turn line. Some are more noticeable than others. Unless it is deep scratching, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Gentlemen--
Yes, it's the entire circumference (as shown in s&wchad's photo). Your prompt replies are both greatly appreciated. Have a good weekend!
