I just picked up a new 4513TSW. Can anyone tell me if the light rail can be removed from under the frame? Second, why type of holster will fit this gun? It seems hard to locate one such as the Black Hawk Serpa or Safariland ALS. Is there an equivalent gun that would fit the 4513 TSW, maybe a SIG 220 with rails. Any help would be great. The gun is so smooth, zero felt recoil and very accurate.

From what I've heard from a trainer, you don't want a Blackhawk Serpa. The release mechanism can jam locking your gun in the holster - a death jam.

Many custom holster makers, such as Kramer, will make a holster for your gun. If you go that route, spend the extra $ and get horsehide.

Congrats on your 4513! Any competent gunsmith can loose that rail for you. I had the rails removed on all my TSW's. I view the addition of a rail on the 4513, a perfect compact concealment pistol, as just another idiotic S&W decision.

I've found that holsters for Sig 229's, and Glock 23's work very well with my 4513/4516/Shorty45 MKII pistols.

I personally don't/won't use "retention" or "security level X" holsters. A simple thumb break is sufficient, for me. KISS method and all that. Enjoy your 4513! Regards 18DAI.

After removing rails, did you fill holes or just leave them? I picked up a High Noon Skin guard for mine(4513tsw), and am not impressed. Looks like, with the rail removed, it would fit my 5903 or 908 holsters. For now, it will just be my night stand drawer gun....maybe I'll find a nice light to hang on it.

On two of my TSW's I had my smith place black flat rivets in the holes to fill them.

On my last 4513TSW I just left them open. Made no difference really, to me. Regards 18DAI.
