more $$ than i have ever put down on a gun , but love it .

don't feel to bad about the $$$,a 617 just went for 2,350 dollars on gb,it was the rarer no lug.The 617 is a lifetime gun,you can't go wrong..
 
Congratulations on the purchase as they are great revolvers and you can't wear it out.
 
noticed yesterday the barrel is canted about 1/32 to the left of center . That was one of the things i was going to check when i picked it up , BUT i forgot my reading glasses and could not see very well . :(

Shoot it off the bench with the factory iron sights . This will tell you if the barrel is canted . If it shoots center bull with the rear sight centered then I wouldn't worry about 1/32" .
 
Good for you, put that puppy on some sand bags and wring it out, bet it shoots some smoking groups
