Picked up a new 686 no dash recently. Unfortunately the owner didn't keep the S&W box or cleaning kit. With that it has become one of my favorite shooters. I have been wearing out the 10 and X rings on a few B-27's since I got the pistol a few weeks ago. When I got it, the gun appeared to have been factory fired only. Not anymore. A little work on the action and it is slick.

Nice!

Looks like the american series? Do you know how the kick compares to one of the shorter barreled 686's?

I have a 4" 586 that I carried for years on duty. I actually shoot it better than the 6".

Now that is a great find! Congratulations. Your factory targets look great too. I actually prefer shooting with the targets over the Pachmayers, and I like the Ahrends Retro Targets most of all.

Reading this forum and shopping in the LGSs, it's apparent these pre -5 686s are becoming very, very difficult to find in great condition, and when you do find them the price tags can knock the wind out of you. I guess we should get them while we can.

Congratulations on the purchase and an unfired no dash is indeed rare to find.

When Pachmayer came out with the Grippers back in 82, that was the 1st thing that went on the 586. Best grip I have ever used and I have a drawer full of Hogues and other custom grips. The Pachs work for me.

First handgun I ever bought (over 30 years ago) and still my favorite. Congratulations.
