No one answered. Have you found any ? I'm looking for the 986 to buy. I haven't seen any. Why does S&W do that? Make a gun -talk about it - show videos about them. Price them-then you can't buy them ? My LGS said they been on order since Jan. Time will tell.

Yep, not a one here in central Illinois, either. I've been looking, I think I'm more curious than anything to just see one. I hope...

I have had mine since the last week of February. My gun dealer had got three in at the same time. The one I took had the test dated shell case as 1/14/2014 but the other two guns had shell case dates of 12/2012. I have heard thru my lgs that the 929 will not be shipped to him until early July.

929s have hit the street!

Just saw the first one of these on Gunbroker. Let's see how it does!

They must have a new crew at S&W that didn't realize how difficult it is to make a good 9mm revolver. They make a few good ones for the select few sponsored shooters and gun writers and then struggle to maintain that standard for the masses. Remember the 940 and the various problems it had? I think they will be going down that road again.

The new 9mm revolvers use moonclips instead of a special extractor designed for rimless cartridges. As the 9mm extractor groove is SAAMI spec, the moonclips are not picky about brass like 38 / 357 clips are.

These are different animals, and while the first two models are geared towards competition I hope they add some more to next years lineup.

I think I will hold off till next year. I just don't like the look of the wheel------------------------------space ------------------------- --------------------------------------Barrel-------------------

No different than the 625 PCs. Cut the cylinder as short as required to minimize freebore and just crank the barrel in. Looks odd but effective. Depending on price I may or may not get one this year. Like many others I just invested a bit in a 627 / 38 short colt setup and hate to throw it out without trying it on.

I would wait until they get most of the bugs worked out since these are brand new models.

As far as looks go the 929 has really grown on me. I liked the 986 from the first time I saw it. If there is anyway possible I want both. It might not happen but I would love to have one of each.

It's not an airplane. It's a revolver with a design that has evolved but not changed much over the last 50 years, and neither titanium cylinders nor 9mm chamberings are new to S&W. What sort of bugs do you expect?!
