Loving the new 4.5" Barrel Shroud from Kineti-Tech I received today. Gives the appearance of a SBR with Suppressor. I always get looks and questions at the range about what I'm shooting....I can only imagine the looks I will get now...lol:D

Barrel Shrouds - Kineti-Tech

Im interested in why you went with the short one. Looks??

Im interested in the long one but it looks like you would have to remove the plastic ring that sits at the end of the hand guard. Any draw backs from removing the ring??? It looks like there would be a lot of barrel flex if removed. Just wondering, anyone got insite to this?

Hayden.

The ring in the end of the forend is to support the forend, not the barrel. Many of us have reamed out the hole so the ring never touches the barrel at all. It can even be removed and it will have no effect upon the barrel.

Rutger...looks like hayden got you covered on the link. Dennis is great to work with...turnaround was very quick..
Hayden....yeah, I definitely went with the short initially for looks, although I have a Hogue forend tube coming and the 4.5" will still work...not sure if I could have gotten away with a 6" and the Hogue.

Yes there have been posts here in the forum concerning the plastic ring at the front of the foregrip, as mentioned by Majorlk some have opened up the hole so it doesn't touch the barrel or some have removed it completely with no adverse affets on acccuracy, it has also been called "free floating the barrel". I have removed mine and it still shoots tight groups.

The only problem that arises with removing the ring completely is the front of the forend no longer has any support. This can be a problem if you are shooting with a bipod attached. Otherwise not a big deal, IMHO.
