When did the 5 screw become a 4 screw is that a very early 4 screw 1957? I have a Pre 29 5 screw no 1687XX.

The first 4-screw 44 Magnums date to around February 1957. 44 Magnums in the S170000 range were shipped in nearly each month of 1957.

I have S 170096 (6.5") that shipped on April 14,1957. In my letter Mr. Jinks also informed me that there was a 4" with the same serial no. that shipped to Waco Tx. in Feb. that year. Yours maybe?

Just guessing but based on the shipping dates posted I'm thinking mine (S177556) was shipped maybe Oct.-Dec. 1957. It's a 4", 4 screw gun.
