I know that most of you guys are genuine collectors, desiring everything to be as it left the factory. Great. Me too, but most of the time that is above my pay grade.

Recently acquired a 19-2 in about 99% condition, and someone removed the grips before the guy I purchased it from became the owner, so I have no factory grips and have put a set of John Culina's grips on the old gal. My thinking, if I have to dig deep in the cash stash for grips, John is going to get my money for fancy wood grips, not some guy wanting to sell 70 year old grips at the same price. ok rant over, on the subject of the post.

I have a few presentaion cases for the older S&W, some factory and some just wood boxes. I found this guy from Newland, NC selling on ebay that advertises new, made to order presentation cases. Prices are about what I would have to pay for a 1970s factory case, assuming I could ever find one. Most of you report the lining are alway in poor condition after 50 years of age from the mother ship.

Has any of you guys ever purchase from this guy and if so, feedback on what you think of his work and product? He has some blue velour that he says is close to the original. I am thinking a double box to put the 6" and 4" 19s in for handing on down to the family after I am gone. I like the photos of his work and understand beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I can't answer your question as to the new cases, but they do look nice. But if you are handy, you can turn the cases you have into beautiful almost factory cases. You can make the inserts with a little time and effort to your liking, cover them with nice stretch velvet and present your S&W in your original case. I like the looks of an old case with a dark blue velvet covered insert without any depressions for tools.

Well it don't look like too many have seen his work. I tried to look him up but without a name or link I didn't find anything.
I enjoy working with leather and wood and have made a few boxes for some of my guns, just for the fun of it.
I apply flocking where the gun goes but I cut out a piece of felt and place it below the gun because we've seen what the flocking can do over time.
