New American Rifleman

Say what you want, but Walther is putting out some quality firearms. Yes, it's 21st century stuff, but it is what sells that determines the market. I gave my first generation Walther P99AS to my daughter who swears by it. It was one of the finest and safest firearms I have ever owned. I've been craving a Walther PDP to replace it, but it's a little late in life to collect any more pistols. I'll always have the Walther PP in 7.65; a real classic. That will go to one of my daughters when my time passes.

Yes. No one is criticizing Walther in general. They have certainly made some fine guns. While I'm not much on 9mm anything, I've always liked and thought highly of the P4 I've had for decades. And several PPK/S .380s were great and accurate cast bullet shooters.

Seems kinda late to end of the comp barrel games but I sure the walther fans will want one . I do wonder if the compensator walther is using from parker machine is a selling point or just laziness on walther's part . Anyhow I have no interest .

Hum , looking at the photo above the sights especially that short nubbins of a front sight are not optic or suppressor ready so why not make the rear sight to remove with the optic cover plate so the dot optic can be moved farther to the rear of the slide . The lens on the optic would be cleaner longer if moved to the rear ! Maybe on the next upgrade to the Pro X series ?? Yea thats it .

Walther have a habit of using off the shelf bits on their pistols. I recall that an option on the PPQ was Dawson sights with the blacked out rear. My PPQ owning buddy got quite cross when he found out that my 5" Canik came with those sights as standard for $150 less. He was slightly comforted by the knowledge that the Canik is based on the P99 design.

Speed over elegance is a proper priority for a serious use firearm. I like my K38 and my 25-7, and could in fact use them for serious purposes if need be, but I am far faster and otherwise more proficient with an auto pistol with a red dot.
