Hello peeps!I visiting one of the shop today and I saw this S&W MP15-22, and I thought "eh its the same as i had before" but still i decided to hold it and that's when I noticed all the upgrades S&W did: they finally put a mjuzzle break and at thesame time added a Magpul BUIS front and rear sights!! long story, Shot 300 rounds w/o lubing it or any thing and I did not have a single FTE or FTF! not like the 1st generation ones..any hoodle I think i will just use the iron sights on this one becs at 25yds i was making rugged holes a 2"x2" shoot'n see targets that i have and its me shooting and believe me i'm not that of a good shot with plain iron sights on rifles..here it is the improved SW MP15-22..The scope is just for show..P.S Ruger LCR with CT grips for 590 is a good price right?

From everything i can find those sights are not stock from S&W.

Potentially +1 to that. If you look closely at the 15-22 MOE version in the 2010 catalog, you'll see that version includes not only the MBUS front and rear sight, but the Magpul MOE stock and pistol grip. I'm wondering if the dealer took one of the new threaded barrel versions and slapped the sights on? One way to possibly tell is by the serial number series of the rifle. The newer threaded barrel version seem to be in the DTU and DTX series. As of now, I don't believe anyone on the forum has seen a 15-22 MOE version for sale on the street.

Many of us have put MBUS sights on our 15-22s. You can find them at many shops. They are inexpensive compared to their all metal brothers and perform well.

BTW - I'm happy to hear you took the rifle to the range and it performed well!

That is exactly what I saw last weekend at a show in lakeland fl. The serial number was a DTX. After the ad came out showing only three models I thought maybe I was mistaken but the one I saw had the flip up sights with everything else the same. My model is a DTU I put over 700 rd through with no problems. I don t remember the price but did not think it was more than the others.

That's interesting. I bought a DTU series with a threaded barrel that has a S&W SKU of 811033 on the box. The MOE version should have SKU 811034.

They must have transitioned in the DTU series. I have a DTU that was born on January 5th from the box date code and it doesn't have the threaded barrel or the new style sights. Doesn't have "blue" springs or newer style magazine either.

I would like to know the first 4 digits of that rifle too, as well as the S&W sku number, if you do not mind. Also, where did you buy it?

[lang=da]Greetings from a forum virgin. I'm pretty sure that this rifle isn't the factory MOE version; there's no integral sling attachment point before the front of the stock.[/lang]

Different I'll give you, but where are the improvements?

The M16A1-style suppressor is cosmetic and "improves" the looks, but that's about it. Rifle is otherwise the same other than gimmick folding sights.

150781 and dtx4XXX was the numbers in the box, just spoke with my dealer and he said its a distributor special item and can't remember the name of the distributor eaither..

i hope they didnt charge you the magpul version price for that gun. regardless of that though good luck and have fun shooting!

does anybody know how much is the magpul version??becs the tag on this was 510 and usually around here the 1st gen ones run maybe 420 to 460 depending on which shop you go to if they have it..I figure the sights alone is atleast $90 or so, anyway is there a way to make the trigger better??

i got quoted the A1 version (not magpul) for 460 out the door by a very small local gun shop, just so you have something to compare to. and yes you can buy just about any performance trigger for the AR that will work for your 15-22

thanks! so the one you're looking at has the regular sights but already have a flash hider?..When I 1st bought the 1st gen ones I told myself they should atleast installed a flash hider, so when i heard that they are coming out with one i figure i'm getting one again eventually, then i saw this one + the buis sights , so for me its an improvement becs it cost money to have them threaded and the sights is pricey to and there is no way i will shell out that kinda money, so i thought 510 is decent price NIB..

I paid $401.00 (LEO price) for my M&P with the factory flash hider in January. I believe the blue springs are only used as replacements for M&Ps sent back to the factory for problems. This is my 2'nd M&P15-22, my 1'st being an early gun and both have been flawless. The only mods to my 2'nd one was adding neoprene ladders to the rails and switching the original rear sight for an A2 type.

Did you notice any other differences at all? I recently purchased mine and am debating on whether or not if i want to send it back. Has no blue springs but ejects fine. At this point the gun seems fine with few FTF's. I don't have the "25 rd" label on the mag either. Is it worth sending back yet?

oh yeah, 510 isnt bad at all considering the sights themselves are usually around 90 bucks. id say you got a good deal. welp, i got the confirmation i need, new productions come with blue springs, i guess its my turn to go get one. : D

i got my 15-22 with the flash hider for 399.00 at a small gun store DTX2XXX is my serial and yes it went back for FTF. Getting it back tomorrow and looking forward to trying it out.

I was looking for a scope that i can use for this 15-22 and i found an old pistol scope and thought "hmm this should work right?" here is the result..

Ignore the 2 or so fliers hahaha, I guess it works..

Its not the prettiest setup but dead on accurate..P.S still getting lucky for not having ant ftf or fte's after almost 400 rounds now..The BCG spring on this is not blue either..

First time poster, long time lurker;

Picked up my M&P 15-22, 4 days ago and so far I've only had 4 FTF's... but I believe it was the ammo; switched to Federal bulk from Walmart and I've put over 500 of those through it without any problems whatsoever.

My serial starts with a DTZ and has the flash hider and blue spring, but doesn't have the folding sights...

Haven't done any mods to mine yet, but I've been looking through the pics here, and I can't wait to get started.

Cheers.

I got mine about a month and a half ago, about 1500 rounds without any problems. But last week I was trying to get rid of some (bad/Rifle no likey) ammo and my bolt come apart. The little spring, retainer, and extractor from the bolt popped off. I was thinking how it would suck to send it back when I noticed it had just popped apart but was not broken. I proceded to put back together and continue using it for another 300 rounds. When I got home I cleaned and inspected it. I think the bad ammo may have got it loose during the many missfeeds. When using the ammo it likes the rifle has been quite good. Is this the problem that alot of people sent these back for? The bolt does not have blue springs but the rifle is new and has the flash hider s/n# DTX36xx. Now that I know my rifle likes a certain ammo I'm hoping this shouldn't happen again. Just lucky I didn't loose the small parts.
(Sorry if in wrong thread)

It looks an awful lot like the Talo Distributors "custom" version with the DTX serial number and all. Mine has multiple failures to feed and I have been waiting for my return label.
