Congressman from Ill. has introduced H.R. 5103. It attacks guns and gun owners through higher taxes. Increases NFA fees from $200 to $500 and automatically adjusts fees for inflation annually.

Also increases Federal Excise Tax to 20% on all guns manufactured in the US. Drastically increases taxes on imports and ammo.

If the anti's can't go in the front door they sneak in through the back.

This is old news. The bill was introduced on February 27, and its title is the Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2018.

Also, it's been referred to five different committees and one subcommittee...the Committee on Ways and Means, the Committees on Natural Resources, the Judiciary, Education and the Workforce, Energy and Commerce, and the Subcommittee on Federal Lands.

It'll sit in each one of those committees for a period of time to be determined by the Speaker.

Each committee will meet and discuss the bill regarding how it might affect each of their spheres of influence, then they'll pass it along to some other committee. This is commonly known as Passing the Buck. And make no mistake, each committee member will be innundated with letters and petitions (and other stuff that we won't talk about here) from an untold number of lobbyists.

Frankly, I'll be surprised if it sees the light of day again during the remainder of the 115th Congress. Then again, it has nine more months, so who knows what'll happen between now and January 3, 2019.

What we don't need right now is to start getting all bent out of shape and panicking over a bill that has little, if any, chance of making it to the president's desk and signed into law.

I expect to see this reintroduced in late Jan 2021.

Yeah, we've only got 9 more months for this session of Congress, so we can safely ignore this one.
It isn't like there's any kind of big push to pass new gun control legislation or anything. Nothing to see here folks...

My question is, will the police in the United States carry out the orders of the elitist, when they finally give the order to collect up the people's weapons? Or, will they stand down, when they realize that this would probably lead to a lot of bloodshed?

I won't say we should "Panic", but we must stomp out every roach at first sight. One may get through, and that will set us back years.

Make the introducing congressman/woman understand that they do not represent at least one of their "constituents", and that we vote as much "against" as "for".

That is really going to quell gun violence.....

A richer person will be able to afford more guns than I can. It will also be a source of revenue for the government.

Crooks will get all the guns they want and not pay a dime.

I can really see that taking a bite out of crime.

Ah yes, Gun Violence Prevention, which happens so commonly with items that require NFA tax stamps..... Oh, wait.....

Gah, stupid Illinois. This state so disappoints me sometimes.
