"LeMay: The Life and Wars of General Curtis LeMay" by Warren Kozak.

I recommend this new book to anyone who is interested in the Second World War or the development of American air power. Curtis LeMay began the war as an Army Lieutenant and ended it as a Lieutenant General. He began the war flying B-17s over Germany, then designed the US strategy for daylight precision bombing of Germany and, finally, the firebombing of Japan. After the war, he was the man who implemented the Berlin Airlift and then totally redesigned the Strategic Air Command. This is a very readable and well-researched book about a fascinating man who accomplished an enormous amount for our country.

Having praised this book to the skies, it's appropriate to divulge my interest in it: it was written by my brother-in-law. It is $18.45 at Amazon and is a great read (I spent several days proofing the text and footnotes!)
