Would you gentlemen who are lucky enough to have the new Bodyguard 380 mind sharing the Local Gun Store asking price for this new pistol? Not the suggested Retail but what your local Gun Store is willing to actually sell them for? Thinking about going to one if I'm able to swing it. This could be very interesting if all parts of the country will respond. Thanks.

$425.00 in one shop in southern WV, but I heard he's sold a few for $400.00. In the same town another guy wants $499.00.

Bodyguard 380 pricing

As you guys & "gals" (an unintentional exclusion in the original posted question) can see from the very unscientific simple question, the price is variable. Roger, your link produced the lower asking price of the lot and thanks for that link. I really want to be prepared when looking for another cc sidearm and have not seen enough of them in this area to have a good feel for price dickering with any of the potential sellers. This also shows that some of the dealers selling them are marking them up more than others likely because they are not able to purchase in as much quantity for better pricing from the factory. The average from your replies is $415.00/Bodyguard with the higher being $550.00 and the lower being $389.99 for non law enforcement use. Are all of you proud owners that will recommend this as a cc gun or does the factory still have some kinks to iron out? "Thanks" to you all for your help.

I would say both. Although I didn't even manage to shoot the gun with anything other than snap caps before it broke, I still would recommend it. It's much, much nicer than the Ruger LCP (a pistol that is in the same general class of "pocket 380s"). On the other hand, I think it's pretty clear that there are some kinks to work out. If I had it to do over again, I would have waited a year or so to purchase one.

The $389.99 from OMBExpress.com will add shipping, $20 +/-. And you have to add the cost of someone with an FFL, if they charge, like mine does.

Copnomore, you are entirely correct!

But if I could walk into their store and lay down the cash(Hypothetical,of course) that would be the asking price and is what I was seeking with the original question. The link from S&W Oldtimer may have been something he could accomplish in his home state, I'm not familiar with that company but the information was used as if he could do a walk in purchase for that price. I do appreciate your pointing this out and although I was not intending to petition them for a gun, you are right, those charges would certainly have be added to the cost. What about your resources there in the "Sunshine" state? Have you had any interest and found any deals for the Bodyguard 380? Thanks

Smitholdtimer, I only checked one place and they didn't have a bg .380 in stock. I ordered on the spur of the moment since the Chief (wife) agreed to it for a birthday present. That cut down on the whining and sniveling I would have had to do for a non-gift purchase. :) With the stockmarket the way it is, we have pulled in the expenses until this market irons it self out. Right now, I'm on a fixed income. Early retirement. I'm working on an Andriod phone next. :D

Thanks Copnomore

If your BG380 has arrived can you give a range report? I'm somewhat disappointed by what I am reading with regard to the reliability of this new S&W offering. Certainly am disappointed to hear of all the things going wrong with something I would depend on for self defense. Sure hope your new Bodyguard 380 performs as designed and trouble free.

Absolutely

Once I receive it I'll be heading to the range. I am a bit concerned also about the problems. I have owned many S&Ws revolvers and a couple of semi-autos, since 1975, and never had a misfire or a problem with a single one.
I did a phone check at Shoot Straight range here in Tampa and they were sold out. They had received a partial order of 15 with 35 back ordered. They were getting $525.00 for their special sale price. I asked about the LEO price and it was the same.....

I was planning on buying a Ruger LCP .380 until I read the reviews on the Bodyguard .380. Then I started pricing it online and found varying prices anywhere from $450 on up to $550 including Gunbroker. I wanted to avoid ordering it online to avoid the FFL fees involved. I went into my local Academy this AM to buy some ammo on sale and lo and behold there was the Bodyguard .380 for $423-it had just come in this AM and the only one they had-needless to say I bought it. Will be taking it out to the range later this week. The only bad part of the deal is that it only comes with 1 mag and additional mags won't become available (according to S&W) until the end of September. You would think a gun manufacturer like S&W would have produced a large number of additional mags for sale-I guess not!!!

I'm on the waiting list for one of these at my local Bass Pro Shop. They want $500, which honestly seems a bit on the high side.

I'm torn... I really want a Kel Tec P32 for a BUG.

For what they are asking I could spend a bit more and get a 340.

I paid $390.00 for mine with an LE discount and it has replaced both my LCP and Kahr P380 as my favorite pocket pistol. With 3 range sessions and over 600 rounds now it has been 100% flawless and just a great little pistol that I highly recommend.

Bought mine last week at Academy for $429 in East TN. Pricing at Sportsman Warehouse was $489 and $519 at a smaller gun store.
