NEW BODYGUARD 380 TRIGGER KIT

I agree, one of our CPL instructors warned us about the legal issues modifying firearms and even the type of ammo used in a defensive situation. Plus, I don’t want a gun with a haired trigger in my pocket.

Getting trigger work done does not mean the gun has a "haired" trigger...
A CLEAN 4 to 6.5 lb trigger professionally done is a predictable trigger, which makes it safer.
There are competition triggers and duty triggers, you need to know the difference.

Show me a case where a good shoot was negated by a gun mod.

Too many people in the gun community hold onto urban myths..

Any update on Galloway Parts

Has anyone spoken to the Galloways in regard to delivery dates for their BG upgrades? Thanks,

I emailed Eric the other day and received this response.

I am awaiting heat treat on the BG380 parts, should be a couple weeks and on the site.

Thanks,

Eric

Galloway Precision kits

Seems that the shortened trigger pull bar is available, sort of, from Galloway (Galloway Precision :: Smith & Wesson Performance :: Bodyguard 380 Performance Parts ) for $90. Seems a little steep for an under $400 belly gun. Someone here noted that the part was PAINTED, a no-no in my book

My wife likes her BG380 but says the trigger pull is mos def too long so maybe this kit will cure that. Also, with certain ammo, Herter's mainly, she is plagued by FTF caused by weak strikes. There is an improved (?) firing pin available from GP ($25), supposedly hardened tool steel, that may be the ticket.

Initially, they sold just the trigger bar for $50. You could also get it as part of a kit with an adjustable take-up trigger. I bought just the bar and it made the gun completely unreliable. Light strikes all day. I wound up returning it. This must have been a widespread problem, because now they only offer it as part of a kit for $95:

Includes Trigger bar, Edge trigger, increased rate hammer spring(for light strike prevention), reduced power blocker spring and reduced power firing pin return spring

I just installed this kit, so far it seems to have improved trigger travel, but I have not had a chance to hit the range to see how it shoots. It was a fairly easy, straight forward install.

Interesting. I installed the transfer bar and trigger and had to sand off all the paint to get it to move smoothly and reset properly. Had some light strikes so bought the springs and now waiting for a sight pusher tool to arrive to install the test of the springs so I can try it again. Maybe I should have got the firing pin while I was at it.

I dont think the Galloway trigger bar is painted, looks more like blueing to me, but I also polished it very well along with the housing that it slides against.
I bought the FP but two of us on here have problems with the fitment. The taper seems to be a tad too large and it gets stuck in the FP channel. So I re-installed the OEM FP but I did use the Galloway spring to try and improve misfires.
The gunsmith at the range couldnt budge the site on my slide so I came home, wrapped the slide with some cardboard, and mounted it gently in a large vise. I used a piece of aluminum flatstock, 1/4x1x6", that was laying around, and a heavy hammer and I was able to knock the site loose very easily without scarring up the slide. The alum is soft enough that it did not leave any marks on the slide.
I had to remove the site twice after finding out that the aftermarket FP did not function correctly. If you buy the FP be sure to check to see if if moves smoothly and completely through the channel in the slide before re-mounting site completely.
