New bolt catch

Well I finally received my new bolt catch from S&W. What a difference seeing them side by side.

they give you any issues getting the part, or did you just ask for it? how long did it take, and did they charge you for it?

No issues at all. Called them up, asked for the bolt catch, then waited 7 business days, free of charge. Awesome customer service.

deeds....what proplems were you having? I mean, why did you contact S&W ...was there a problem?

I had just bought the rifle and took it shooting. When the magazine was spent the bolt would lock back, then as soon as I dropped the mag the bolt would release. So the only way the bolt would lock back was with a magazine inserted.

In the picture, which is the new one?

The one on the right is the new one. You can see how rounded the left one is. It would allow the bolt to just ramp the catch.

Do you use a nail punch to knock out the pin that holds the catch in place? and do you re-use the same pin? do you need to flare the ends of the pin? thanks

I used a regular roll punch and the same pin, nothing special.

What a difference. The rounder one looks like what we call in the molding industry a short shot. I understand these are metal injection molded.

The difference is significant. Went shooting on Tuesday and I was able to feel when the bolt was locked back.
