Congratulations, you will really enjoy this rifle. Got mine two weeks ago and put about 500 rounds thru it. I would recommend keeping track of the ammo you put thru it and see which works best in your particular weapon. Mine had a few failure to fires, but the more rounds that went thru it the better it performed.

Good for you Al! UK 15-22 shooter here too; yes we do have to wait a bit longer (and pay more) for the good things, don't we?!

Running a Vortex Sparc & VMX3 magnifier on mine and very happy with it (Newpro is the UK distributor). CCI Blazers don't break the bank and run with no problems. I'm using CLP to clean it; gave it a full clean and run through with a boresnake when I first got it, and another clean after 1K rounds. Will probably only boresnake it after every 3K or so...

Just waiting on extra mags and a RRA NM2 trigger to come through to make it complete... :)

Have fun!

nice !!

I ve put my Eotech on it at the mo, but I maybe swaping that for something different.. duno yet..

more mag's = I order 3 extra when I bought the gun !! always a wise choice...
is yours OD or Foliage ??
done similar mods to mine in FG already...!!! just waiting on the low profile ladder rail covers.... but cant seem to find them for less than £ 10 each !!

Vortex Sparc = never come across them before , will look at them a bit more..

I put 500 rnds CCI Mini Mag 40grn throught it today.... 1 x ftf, & 1 x stove pipe..

so not bad !!

Welcome and congrats!

So , what are the details of what you have to go thru to buy and own such a firearm in the UK.

Same as with any other Section 1 firearm; demonstrate the need for one and apply for a Firearms Certificate (FAC). In my case, it's all target shooting, as a member of an approved gun club with all shooting on suitably approved ranges.

As the 15-22 is a .22LR semi auto rifle (exceeding the legal minimum length of 60cm total length, including min 30cm barrel length), there are no restrictions regarding mag capacity or any 'tactical' additions (with the exception of a functional silencer/suppressor, which would require it's own FAC slot).

Note - personal/home defence is not an accepted reason for possessing a firearm in the UK!

@Treetop - yes, all the add-on gear on mine is in Foliage Green (love that colour!), and £10 does seem to be the lowest going rate for genuine Magpul rail ladder covers in the UK.

cheers...
mine is FG as well....!!! sad bunch arnt we... lol
ok, well £ 10 it is then... bummer...

always thought it would be great to have "Home Defence" on my license... or " Zombie Defence "...

as I have mine for Target & Vermin use.. I have always argued that anyone breaking in my pad is " Vermin" so, It should count... shame the Judge wont see it that way..

Uk Law is very funny....

shotgun with max 3 rnds = Shot gun License ( basically, the Law has to find GOOD REASON for you not to have one )

Firearms Law = ( all firearms - min barrel lenght of 12" and overall lenght of 24" - (inc Shot guns with cappacity over 3 rnds )) YOU MUST prove why you want / own and the use of, WITH GOOD REASON.

All above must be kept in Locked Approved Safes, only the license holder can have access.

Ammonition
= shot gun - as many as you like, stored where you like ( under the bed is fine !!!) as long as its Bird or Buckshot - NOT SOLID SLUG !!

= Rifle & solid slug - only amount specified on you license to buy & hold - MUST BE KEPT IN LOCKED SAFE but not with Rifles !!

thats about it in a nut shell...

After reading those requirements I'm suddenly very happy that we had that little tea party all those years ago.

All you CA guys... It really could be worse I guess.

lol

yeah...
but we dont have Mag restrictions !!! & we can have sound moderators ( silencers)

ok.. so we cant have pistols...... but who needs them ...

ok.. so we cant have pistols...... but who needs them ...

Well, I used to shoot pistols for several years before the ban came in... including (of the S&W line), a pair of 686 revolvers (before any of the 'dash' model nonsense!), a 5906 9mm and a Model 41 .22LR. Loved 'em and miss 'em, but the whole tactical .22/mini-rifle thing certainly helps to bring back the fun!

yep....
they all got banned in 1997... and you had to hand them in...

only special clubs can get a special license.... mainly for historical pupose... but then there is a **** load of rules.....
like, only the license holder can touch it... it can never leave the range / storage area unless it is being sold or repared or seviced... and then it must be transported in a steel drop box..
we still have a pistol section at my club... but its way to stringent on rules for my liking..

Well at least the 15-22 will take the sting out of those laws and no mag restictions is a good thing.

If we (the USA) ever get that far down the idiot path you will be able to find me in the nearest clock tower. Waiting for the repo man to show up!
"from my cold dead hands" can they pry my firearms.

treetop: Uk Law is very funny.... "funny" isn't the word I would use to describe it.

Blue Lizard: you said no suppressor - what's on the end of your barrel? Or did you mean silencer also acts as a suppressor?

Nice to know there are people in the UK with 15-22's!

not that I want to answer for him... but..

thats a muzzle break...or anti flash..... flash hider

in the UK, a suppressor is also called a silencer,
but by Law,
they are Sound Moderators....!!
and in the UK, you must ask for a Slot on your License to own one, and it must state the type & calibre.
they become , a firearm in there own right, and get traded & treated as such....

however...
they cant stop you having one for Health & saftey issues ( hearing Loss). so you just need to ask.... & have good reason...

Spot on, Treetop.

Same also applies for spare cylinders for black powder / muzzle-loading nitro revolvers, the only pistol-sized (non long-barrel & grip rod) handguns we're allowed on standard Section 1 certificates.
