Ok, last week CA said all NEW semi-automatic handguns would have to be manufactured to produce a casing stamp to identify the gun owner. It was also said that this law would go into effect immediately. My questions: Are manufacturers going to spend the extra money to re-tool their equipment to do this? Will each new handgun have a different stamp?

That's great, so when someones gun gets stolen and used in a crime, it'll go back to the innocent person. When will they learn that criminals will get their hands on stuff, regardless of laws? They're OUTlaws, remember?

Where did you read this? I moved out of Cal a few years ago and have friends still there. I haven't been told or read about this law yet?

A friend told me that his cousin's sister's ex-boy friend's dad's gardener told him...

Without a link to the story or law this is a pointless discussion. I have heard of no such law. Sure, they've been talking about it for years, but nothing in writing yet.

An alternative-fire enough rounds through it and the numbers should wear off. Sorry-not being very sarcastic.

Here's the problem I see with micro stamping. Let's say you go to the range and don't pick up your spent casings. Bad guy uses range after you, picks up some of your casings, he goes to commit a crime and drops your marked casings at the scene, you get a knock on the door (actually it'll be more like a search warrant) to which you're going to have to do a lot of explaining.

Looks like the smartest thing I did was to escape california. Its a shame. The state has nice scenery in the northern half.

Bad guys are already known to scatter a handfull of fired brass around. ......because they can.
Under any circumstances, a bad guy can install a bolt that has no such feature, or swap one out.
It is the same sorry stab at non-criminals that propellant taggants was.

The People's Republic of Kommiefornia is a lost cause.

I'm so happy I got out when I did. Been begging my brothers to leave for years.

The tyranny being perpetrated my the CA state government is sickening!

Ridiculous.

So the bad guys use old guns without microstamping.

Or they file the stamp off.

Then they spread other microstamped cases at the crime scene.

Who thought of this stupid law?

.
