Already had a couple of scratches so my conscience is clear to beat on it and smoke it up.

Badger custom grips, bobbed and checkered hammer, Gary Dean trigger job

I have one I carry at work sometimes. It's not as nice as yours, but it has the factory shroud. I alternate it with a Colt Agent.

I love S&W's but have developed an affinity to the Agents & Cobras.

Maybe next to a 4 inch Python, these are the best looking revolver Colt ever made. Wish I would have bought one way back when (but I'd probably have traded it for a J-frame of some type!).

I've got a couple of pretty nice Cobras. I'm still hung up on long standard profile grips, and Tylers. I can't bring myself to bob the hammers. Doc's is a nice example though. I'd be interested in production counts as you don't see them for sale often. I realize most people keep them.

hmm

which model colt is it that has a six shot cylinder but isn't much larger around than a j-frame
?

I have a Colt Commando and would like some grips similar to the ones on your gun. Would they fit or is the Commando frame a different size?

I carry a well worn Detective Special because my Cobra is just too nice to carry. They are beautiful revolvers and I trust my life to mine.

I have a Colt Lawman snub (rather akin to a Detective Special thoroughly infused with Bovine Growth Hormone) with those same stocks for it. Even on the larger gun/heavier Lawman, they're a nice bit of gear. They look quite nice on that Cobra.

Very nice, congrats!

My Colt Cobra is the reason I've never needed a J-frame. Perfect size and weight, with six shots. Great sixgun. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

I too have a Cobra...from 1974...that I tote every now and then. Mine has just the standard issue stocks. It rides in a Galco "Combat Master" OWB holster.

I even wear it on duty every once and a while...when the chief ain't lookin'. ;)

Good looking colt Doc. I need to venture into the world of colt one of these days. The royal blue finish is excellent on yours. :D

Colts are very precision machines. Finding someone to work on them is very difficult-finding someone who knows what they are doing. Smith did exactly the right thing when they introduced the J frame Chief back in 1950, they designed an action that was easy to work on, and would always be able to be fixed by an armorer not necessarily a specially trained smith.
I have a small clutch of Colts and they are really nice, I do carry one every so often, I like the 6 shots being available, and the folks above are right about the Lawman, which came in 2 series the MIII and MKV. I have one of each and they are what I call a "Bogart snub", really big and impressive looking, and they will shoot any .357 round ever made with no problems, and the MK series are easy to fix, which is why Colt introduced them in the first place. Too bad Colt did such a poor marketing job, we might still have a 3rd wheelgun option.
