Dear Forum

Has anyone else purchased the new 6 inch classic 41 magnum? If so I have found it very reliable and fun to shoot, but the grips need replaced with a thicker style to enjoy using the magnum. Not sure the older model 58,57 grips from the 80's would work on this newer model. The black finish is great- good job SW!

Any suggestions on what grips and which company might provide an alternative to the factory grips?

Thanks- Jim

I purchased newer model 29's . The factory grips quickly had to go . I replaced them with older target grips , they fit just fine . Mine 44's shoot just fine . I did have a problem with the 6" barrel model . It misfired , a lot . A trip back to the factory solved nothing . It came back with a note stuck in the barrel telling me to only shoot factory stuff . I knew that was baloney . I finally figured out it was the firing pin . It dimpled a primer only about 1/2 as deep and it looked like it had been hit with a very pointed needle . I went to brownells , ordered a new one, replaced it myself ( easy job ) and have had " zero " problems since . Hope this helps , Regards, Paul

S&W Model 57 41Rem Mag "Classic"

After work just a while ago I looked at one exactly
like yours at our Local Gun Store.

Fit and Finish was very while done. Bluing was very
well done, Dark Deep Bluing, Polishing well done.

Grips are thinner in width, not conducive with Full
Power Loads.

S&W Revolver Frame size is called "N" Frame. You will
have to take Grips off and look if the Grip Frame is
Round Butt or Square Butt. That will tell you what Style
to get.

Below what RB looks like.

Enjoy your new Revolver and good luck in your
Endeavors.

I've got the blued 4" model. Unfortunately they were only made for two years, 2009 & 2010, then they dropped them but kept the 6" bbl. in the catalog.

Any square butt N-frame grip will fit your Classic. I didn't like the factory grips either & ordered a pair of Badger grips made of Goncalo & finished in tung oil (S-006-TO-GA) for dress-up.

At the range it wears plain ole Hogue Monogrips, #29000, which matches most of my other range wear, so I keep the same feel. ;)
