And he wields a Ruger SBH with some authority! Using factory loads he made a splash at his first metallic silhouette match by taking down all ten Chickens!

You'd think it wouldn't be all that big a deal to put ten rounds in roughly three inches at 25 yards (standing, unsupported, but able to use both hands), however even the good single shot pistol shooters using .22 Hornet don't do it all the time.

I think once he gets good zeros at the other distances we're going to see some great scores. (FYI: Nobody yet known in the history of IHMSA to shoot a perfect 40/40 score in FP (basically factory handgun, iron sights.) A few have been done in the "any sight" category.)

Kdiver58 has upped his game as well, going the .357 mag route all the way. Finally ditched the under-performing Model 57 .41 mag. No photos of kdiver in action this time as I was too busy spotting, etc.!

Meanwhile, 75Vette had to fall back to older loads and another 629 as he experienced technical difficulties the day before the match....

Happy to see sw282 this match as well! Looked like he had a good run going.

And then there's the lunch!

Nice looking range! Are the pigs, turkeys, and rams different sizes in the picture, or an optical illusion? May I ask what area this IHMSA match took place? I had gotten a taste of 200m IHMSA back in the early 80s, and would love to try it again!

Not a great day shooting for me but still had a fun day. Man those factory loads were doing some good in that Blackhawk!!
I came across 8 lbs of IMR 4227 that I'm going to play with before next month's match so I'll see what that does for me.

Very unusual gun. Ruger SBH in "Bright Stainless"...

He said the finish was FACTORY. A limited run sometime back.

The black HI VIZ front site really set the whole pkg off

He shot GREAT too.. Esp for a Union Electrician

The Field Pistol targets in the middle of the range are 1/2 size. The Smallbore targets on either side are 3/8 size of what you would have shot on the Big Bore range. And then there's the 1/5 scale off to far right. And not utilized this match are the 1/10 scale airgun targets! Max distance on those is rather less than the 100 yards shown here.

We have a 200m range about 2 hours away for the monthly BB match.

We're well down south of y'all in deep, bright and HOT Dixieland.
Shooters from AL, GA and SC are regular attendees.

Steel

Impressive debut first time out. The Ruger SBH is a good revolver for production class big bore or field pistol. I shot one for years on the big bore course, using 18-20 gr. Of 2400 / Hornady 240 jhp's. I learned a lot about the capabilities of a 7 1/2" revolver, my hand loads and myself during those years. Eventually transitioned to a T/C in 7mm TCU. You folk's have a nice range there.

Guys over at the Ruger Forum say this Bright Stainless SBH 44MAG
is a rare one..Made in 1993 only. GKS47N Model 0856...600 Produced

Great looking range. I wish I had a range for Field Pistol within 50-75 miles of me. I shot a lot of IHMSA 22 RF, and 200 meter CF (Production) class when we had a range locally and enjoyed it a lot. They are a challenge, I think I got up to in the mid to upper 20's for a 40 shot course of fire. I did nearly as well standing as I did freestyle.
