I had an item not delivered by Fed x because there was no adult to receive the item. Most times they just throw the package in the general direction of the porch. What controlled substance or deadly thing was it? A Angled Dental Brush for Teeth Cleaning one six pack. Maybe you could choke some one with one.

I always get notice of a delivery time both on tracking and automated phone message for signature required delivery. That does not always means they will show up as promised, my last two such packages did not, but that in itself is another issue and previously discussed.
We do not have much of a porch pirate problem out in the sticks where I live. Other problems oh yeah but that nope

I have a buddy who has a home-based FFL. On several occasions this past year, UPS has left firearms on his porch.

Two months ago my wife's back from factory .22 pistol repair was left right next to the door. Did not even ring the bell.

She gets in lots of stuff, the driver said since Covid and the desire to stay away from people the "sign for" rules have been relaxed. Relaxed, its more like a coma!

We talked with driver a couple weeks later. He said they took a picture of the gun by the door and he saw our cars in driveway and knew we were home. Of course we live about a 1/4 mile from the road and are at the end of a twisty hilly driveway.

So glad it worked out OK I live in the peoples republic of NY and shudder to think of all the hoops and other fun and games it would have been calling the Sheriffs office and reporting a missing legally registered handgun.:eek:

I'm home about 99% of the time. Why can't the driver ring the door bell when they deliver the package instead of putting at your door and taking a picture of it?

I’m like you BigBoy99, home most of the time. I like that they take a picture since it shows that they definitely delivered the item, but they could also ring the doorbell! I bet they don’t ring the doorbell because, they are always in a hurry, and fear the home owner will come out and ask them questions, putting them behind schedule. Plus if you have a RING doorbell type deal, it will start recording when the doorbell is pushed.

A few times in my neighborhood a package would be delivered, and picture taken, but it was delivered to the wrong address. The neighbor would send out a message asking if anyone recognized the front door of the address. Most of the times things worked out for the best.

Thank goodness for USPS’s “informed delivery”. It at least lets us know that we should be receiving a package today! Luckily, if I am not napping:rolleyes, I can usually hear the mail truck coming down the street.

Here again, the Carrier is getting blamed.

It is the SHIPPER who decides if the package needs a signature or not.

I wish everyone would get their facts straight before slinging muck at Fed-Ex, UPS, and the United States Postal Service.

Sometimes it is the BUYER who decides if the package needs a signature or not. Some people don't want a package left at their door if they are not at home.

It is not the signature that bothers me it is the notice of delivery on a certain date and time. Then with no notice the day and time is missed. The package then arrives days later.
That lies squarely on the shoulders of the carrier. Not the shipper or recipient.

My order showed up today. I saw the Fed x truck drive by and looked out and there it was on the porch. I think not having an adult to receive the package on Saturday was just an excuse because the driver wanted to get off work early

^That makes absolutely no sence.

You do know there is a Fed-Ex ground, and a Fed-Ex air, don’t you? Those are 2 completely separate entities. The air guys don’t even know the ground guys.

Some of you guys don’t have a clue…..

You must be a FedEx UPS or USPS delivery guy. I had a package delivered today. Had to be signed for by an adult. They dumped it on the porch. Luckily not a gun.. Hell half the delivery people who work for FE hare are part timers. The UPS delivery guy for my area never gets a sig unless he sees us outside. Oh and USPS?? 7 out of 10 times their tracking does not "work". I had a package delivered that the tracking said delivery on Monday. I was here waiting. It got delivered on Friday...and tracking didn't have a clue where it was...and it was a handgun. Kind of worrisome esp when the Postmaster didn't have a clue...and didn't really seem to care. Sory it annoys you so much but most of the time when problems arise wih UPS and FE it is the delivery guy

I’ve always avoided FedEx and used to use USPS pretty regularly, but lately central VA is one of the worst places in the nation when it comes to USPS service. These days I’ll really only use UPS when it comes to shipping items. I know, I know, it’s on the shipper to determine things like insurance, adult sig on delivery, etc but I’ve been burned too many times to fully trust those things when it comes to USPS.

A few years ago my Uncle shipped a Weatherby rifle to me that USPS never scanned, blatantly ignored the adult sig on delivery, and left it leaning against my FFLs porch. He only found it when he returned from vacation 5 days later. All tracking said was “in transit, arriving late.”

Skeet, you can’t even spell sorry. lol!

Your post is pretty vague. Which carrier “dumped it on the porch”.

Do you honestly, realistically, expect the postmaster, who works in the building to know where every single package is at any given time?

The vast majority of single residential deliveries do not require a signature. Apartments usually require a signature. Duplexes, it’s the driver’s discretion.
At UPS a “Signature Required” package has a different alpha/numeric character in the barcode that the driver has to scan. His DIAD (electronic board that he carries) will not allow him to not get a signature. And forging a signature will get him fired right now. I would have to think that the USPS and FedEx have similar systems in place. So I’m not going for this “drivers dumping signature required packages” jazz.

Your UPS driver gets a little extra time allowed for a signature delivery; plus a signature is a good way of covering one’s backside.

You didn’t leave it out, Val. But I should. Holier than thou? Sounds rather hypocritical to me. I’ll be sure and proof everything you write from now on.

Lighten up on your delivery drivers. They’re following the rules. They have a very tough job. How many of you guys could even get out of a package car 160+ times a day for weeks on end? They’re up against the clock every day. They’re hot, tired and hungry towards the end of the day.

Just be thankful that you live in a place and time that you can have whatever you want delivered to your house in a few days.
