I saw today that Ford has a new 1,400 HP Mustang Mach E

This electric beast looks awesome and Ford plans to take it to NASCAR ... Hopefully, this new blue oval will lead to something good for Ford!

I like Ford and I wish them well. But always remember it's the consumer who will decide the success or failure of a product.

I do not much about NASCAR rules and such, but what category would an electric powered vehicle be in?????????????
NASCAR has a gazillion rules and requirments

I'm obviously old and 1400 HP is a LOT of horsepower, but I watched the video of this car and despite all that power...that sound of this car just didn't do if for me. I still love the sound of a small block chevy with a mild cam for the feel and the sound. But I am amazed that they can get that kinda horsepower with electric.

For those in the city, and money to burn, it would be great until about the third year when the batteries start going bad. I'd bet a replacement battery will be as much as a new gasoline car/truck. For us country boys, Gas or diesel will get you there and back without a overnight charge - if you can find a charging station in the country.

We don't have issues creating horsepower, we have issues getting it on the road :)
Saw a great demonstration of putting Ford horsepower to the ground, when I worked at Ford-New Holland in PA.
They were Dyno testing their biggest 4wd articulating tractor, with multiple wheels at each corner.
The tractor was anchored to the shop floor by multiple large chains, and had a huge air conditioning duct pushing air into the engine compartment. The drive train was spun to the red line and left there for a long time. With all the wheels spinning at maximum speed on the Dyno, the tractor heaved mightily against the chains, oscillating up and down, while the entire effort emmited a monsterous roar.
Quite an impressive sight of restrained power.

Batteries were my first thought when I read about these as well. Kinda like all of those Prius owners years ago that forked over thousands when they needed their first battery replaced.

I hope the solid state battery technology will be environmentally friendlier and less expensive since it's the plan to mass produce. But I don't know, I don't work in the tech industry.

I know that Electrify America has a broad network, plus you can charge at home.

So I'm in for the ride... cost me $250 to reserve (gets my name on the list for earlier delivery) and the vehicle is supposed to hit the streets late 2022 / early 2023, actually a perfect timing for me.

If there's something I don't like I can withdraw (cost 10% of the $250) and I'm done.

We'll see but I'm kind of excited. The world will go electric weather we like it or not. It's been fumbled with since the late 1800's and normal in today's public transportation world. Just a matter of time when it comes to personal vehicles...
