I switched to Ford today

Never heard of a 5.4L CVPI. Doesn't the 5.4L have a higher deck height? I'm surprised they could fit it under the hood. I sure would have liked to have one though...

I don't think Ford ever offered a Vic with the 5.4L for sale, but I recall Bondurant had some made up on a special order for the driving school. They used a different hood to get the 5.4 to fit. I've also seen a few Vic's and Grand Marquis whose owners installed a 5.4L. Not offering the 5.4 in the Vic was another of those brilliant decisions by geniuses at Ford. The 5.8L V-8 (351 Windsor) was available in Ford cop cars thru 1991, when they switched to the 4.6L in 1992 the police package offered a stunning 20 extra HP over the civilian Vic.

I'm the third generation of Ford drivers in my family, going back to Grandpop's first car in 1916 (a '14 Model T touring car). I just bought another new to me FoMoCo product this summer, a 2011 Grand Marquis. Ford killed off my car, but I'm too stubborn to move on. My current take home car is also a Ford (Explorer police model). I like the Explorer, but it will never take the place of my big V-8 sedans. My boss has a new Maverick, he loves it.

I bought a Marauder back in '03, still have it. 4.6L DOHC (never could afford the Trilogy blower). 302 HP was good back then but my wife's '15 Chrysler 3.6L V6 is rated at 292 HP. The way people drive these days (& the lack of LE) has me driving my Ram 3500 most of the time now.

I feel your pain. I'm glad I had the foresight to buy a second 2008 Grand Marquis while I was still working.

Something funny happened. Thought I'd post about it in the name of fairness. Friday I posted on my dissatisfaction with GM and how my wife and I both switched to Ford in past 12 months. WELP,,,,,,, an hr later my wife's new Bronco with 5k mi would not start lol. Dead battery. I charged it drove it and the next morning it would not start again. So I jump it and drop it at dealer. Monday morning dealer calls and says you're all set, it's just a dead battery. I said I know that. I don't need you to tell me I have a dead battery I need you to tell me why. He said and I quote "Ford won't replace it because we have a really expensive machine that says it's good". I asked if he checked for a draw on battery. He said they did not. I said you already have vehicle, I'd like you to do that. He then says I'm going to talk to the tech and call you back. He calls back to say we'll let it set overnight. If it's starts we will "force a fail on tester" and replace battery. If it doesn't start we'll replace battery and check for a draw either way. Turns out the passenger door lock button was constantly activated and turning on computer monitoring system which killed battery. In the end it's fixed and I'm happy. But it goes to show you how one person can negatively affect your experience. The mechanic knew exactly what to do. The customer service rep was a 20 something idiot who didn't even know what I meant by draw on battery. Yet he's working in service department.
