I just bought a new EZ Shield (my wife thinks she wants one), and do hope we don't encounter some of the feed issues others have identified! With the current $50 rebate from S&W, I couldn't tell her "no." I've read through various threads, and it seems like this could just be the luck of the draw in terms of function. Hopefully, we'll be lucky.

I have told the wife she should get one finally she took a class and shot the ez and now wants one, one problem the gun must be pink, so we'll see what happens maybe if I tell her it's a special sale she'll like it enough.

Wife just bought herself a Performance Center because gold shiny parts.

Have only put 100 rounds so far. had some issues. Going to wait until 500 rounds until I pass judgement. the range rental has had 0 issues..

Success! We took the EZ to the range yesterday. 50 rounds, and no issues. It was surprisingly accurate at 10 yds (much more than I've experienced with two other 380s).

UPDATE: We went to the range tonight and put 200 rounds down range. Had only 1 stovepipe and that was on the 2nd mag of the night. Did the empty case at the bottom trick in 1 mag. Ran fine. Went back to the other mag and had no issues. So I took out the spent case and then had no issues with either mag for the rest of the night.

Both mags have the yellow painted springs. I did load the mags and had them set for 2 weeks in between trips to the range.

I am hoping as it gets more use it will get better. Fingers crossed... she really likes the gun. I do except for the safety. It's right where I want to put my thumb..

Mine had several problems. Smith sent me new yellow painted magazine springs, new followers, and a new recoil spring and it has been running fine since.

You should not have to worry about whether or not your gun will fire if/when needed. Run a few hundred rounds through it and teach your wife and yourself how to quickly clear any malfunctions and you both will be fine. Watch, repeat, and repeat on a monthly basis.

I bought a 380EZ in April, then in October bought another. Took both to the range at the same time for first outing for both. 50 rounds thru each using Aguila factory hard ball. All went well. 50 rounds of hardball hand loads using the Winchester 95 grain jacketed flat point and not a single FTF or any failure to function. Accuracy with all was very good at 5 to 15 yards. The most recent gun experienced 3 failures of the trigger to reset, but that was late in the firing session. We like the 380 EZ.
I'll clean and loob the lock work on both and I'm confident the reset problem will not reoccur.

Good info and thead 'Gramps' ;) - I have had one of these on my wish list for some time, but have hesitated due to feeding issues. S&W got it so right with the M&P Compact .22 - which is pretty similar - I'm surprised it has taken so long to get the bugs worked out. I never had any issues with my M&PC .22 - trusted it so much that I FFL-shipped it to an old friend in NC to use as his one and only house gun ... with a CTC laser mounted on the rail.

Bought my 380 EZ in mid Oct (made May 30th) and have a M&P 22 (FS). The 380 has just under 400 rds shot & no malfunctions with gun or the 4 mags.
The 22 has just under 2000 rds shot and the only malfunctions have been FTFire, on occasions, with Federal ammo - Majority of those fire on 2nd attempt a few won't fire on 3rd attempt (tossed after that) so pretty sure it's crappy Federal ammo as the culprit there.

Traded 2 Ruger MkII pistols for the M&P 22 and celebrate daily over that decision! :)

Bought mine about a year ago, no issues at all, only 3 hundred or so reloads through it, 3.5 HP38 or 3.2 bullseye, 100 grain xtreme. I do hate the grip safety through, otherwise nice gun.

Wife has 2350 rounds through hers, which was bought July 2018 - HER first gun purchase! She loads her own magazines/gun and clears her own stoppages. Still a sucker for cleaning the gun for her though!

There were some stovepipes initially, but nothing over the last 1k rounds or so. She also learned how to shoot with this gun, so limp wrist into, grip, etc., could have played a oart in those early stovepipes.

We also bought enough extra magazines to load 100 rounds pre-range trip (so 13 total mags). Not sure if loading magazines in advance and them sitting a day or two helps, but we now 100% trust the gun. It is a non PC version 1.0.

UPDATE: Went to the range last night and wife put another 200 down range without any hiccups. This put it at 450 rounds with only 3 mishaps, FTE last round within the first 50.
