I have a new 442 that I have a couple of observations about following limited use. I have been carrying this revolver in my pants pocket in a horsehide holster for a limited time. The finish on the gun seems to show more nicks and dings already that some of my older J frames show. I do not baby this handgun, but I don't abuse it either and I am surprised it is showing wear so quickly. Similarly, the turn ring on the cylinder is much more pronounced than on my other Smiths. I suspect this is another example of a somewhat less durable finish.

This does not make much difference to me since I fully intend to use this 442 for years and I consider it a tool, but I am surprised that it is not holding up better.
