hmmm.. thats a good question. Id like to hear the answer too. either way, i like those flip up sights. hmmm...

I'm glad I waited to buy one. It looks like that new 15-22 with threaded barrel is a reality. Does this look like it's from the factory, or is this some company doing add-ons? Here's a link with a nice pretty picture: https://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=SM150781

That is one nice looking rifle. But it looks photoshoped. There are two brass deflectors. And the forward assist is fuzzed out, with some casting swell left over. Mine is super clean, with no marks on the upper, near a forward assist area. Smith does need to put threads on the end of the barrel. But I heard they won't because of cost and they want to be able to ship this rifle to every State. Dumb and useless AWB.

Good observation. Production rifles do not have a forward assist or a secondary "backup" brass deflector ;)

The Magpul sights and flash hider are nice . . . but price is $640 . . . or $200 more than my cost here in Tennessee.

Dunno' if it's worth that much more . . .

My guess is this particular dealer is taking stock M&P15-22 and threading the barrel, adding the flash hider and magpul flip up sights.

According to the top of that web page this is a distributor / dealer price of $640. Average Joe will have to pay more.

The $640 is MSRP (Manufacturers suggested retail price) Only dealers get to see their cost on that website.

Professional photo sessions are expensive. Quite possible that is a photoshop to get a pic for the catalog.

Who cares if they used photoshop to make the picture. If they deliver the overall package, the tiny details should not matter. The MagPul sights are awsome, I have them on my M&P15. It's nice to see a dealer step up and offer this rifle close to how people want it. Some people are not that mechanically inclined and are terrified of working on a firearm, beyond cleaning it. $200.00 for a threaded barrel and flip up sights is fair, not a special deal, but in line with the work done. I hope that shop sells a bunch of those modified rifles. Good luck to them.

I think this is the upgraded 15-22 that will be coming from S&W in 2010. Maybe as time goes on, S&W will also be offering the 15-22 with other Magpul goodies, like they do on their M&P 15.

27 beck, trust me I love aftermarket. I didn't mean any disrespect to your rifle. Please give it a good cleaning and add a tactical red dot for me!!! I just didn't want anybody thinking this was a new model :D

None taken. :p It already has a Primary Arms M4. :D

It would not know how to shoot if it was cleaned. :o

Beck, this is off subject, that is the red dot I plan on getting for mine. So far any pros or cons. Very interested. I know it's very popular on ar15.com. I want more of an opinion from a mp 15-22 owner. I showed this red dot to my wife and even have it on my fav websights. Maybe it will be in my stocking:D

Yeah, the guys on arfcom get me spending money all the time, including the Primary Arms M4.:o It is a great item for the money. Con is that it sells out fast and PA doesn't always have it in stock.

Congrats on you new rifle. :)

Don't forget to throughly clean and lube your new rifle prior the first trip to the range.
Use good quality rounds (atleast until the gun break-in). I have great result using CCI MiniMags, Stingers and CCI Standard Velocity. Federal Lightning works perfectly as well.

Enjoy shooting. :D

M&P 15-22 W/Threaded Barrel

I just ordered mine this morning, it comes with a threaded barrel and a flash supressor. The shop I got it from has a cool handle for up front, push a button and two legs pop out from below. Can't wait to get it, I've heard they're great shooters. :D

Where did you get this from? I just got off the phone with S&W and they told me that version is not available yet.

I'm in Utah, I ordered it through a local shop and he said it had the threaded barrel for the same price. :)
