We now have a new Forum Banner and a new Dark Blue Style to go along with our new server. Some of you may have noticed the small icon badge changes over the last few weeks and a few misplaced icons along the way. All these changes have been in preparation for our new Dark Blue Style roll-out. After a couple of weeks of hard work behind the scenes and a lot of DE-bugging by our dedicated Moderators, the new style is finally ready.

We would like you to try out our new style. Take it for a shakedown cruise if you will. We want to make sure we have not missed anything that might be broken or not working correctly. Maybe not looking correct with your computer setup. Can't promise we can satisfy everyone, but we will do our best to address any issues that come up.

This style will become the forum's default style. One day in the very near future we will reset the boards default style and you will arrive here to see the dark blue style by default. If you prefer the old light blue style, have no fear it isn't going anywhere and you will always be able to change to it following the directions below.

If you would like to try this new style just follow these four simple steps, you can change back to the "Old" Style any time by repeating these four steps.

In the bottom left corner of every forum page is a drop down box called "Quick Style Chooser".
  • Click on the down arrow.

  • Choose the Forum "Style" you wish to use.

  • The page will automatically reload in the new style choice.

  • Enjoy!

I have been using it for a bit. It takes a little adjustment but think I will like it better. Hard work I know!

Thanks RB

Well, I'm sure not a fan. Too dark for my liking. It has the fake "negative" feel to it.

Oh well. That's the only time I'll complain. Looks kinda cool, but I can't look for too long. I'll stick with the lighter one.

Very Nice Indeed!!!! Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!! Thumbs up....:) This looks very rich compared to the lighter color. I like how things appear so much more vivid.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

To be clear, Lee and I had a lot of input into this style, but it was Guy, Smith357 who did the heavy lifting. Each one of those cute little blue buttons were made by hand. Along with all new "badges" that look good in both styles. He has put a lot of work into this.

BTW- Speaking of looking good in both styles. Those of you who enjoy changing the color of your text need to be aware that what looks great in one style may be invisible in another. Best to stick with the default text color in the future. A great example of this can be found on the front page. Check out the NRA feed in the blue style. You can't see the "white on white" links. We will be fixing that, but it is an example of text that looks fine in one style and invisible in the other.

I appreciate the choice, but I'll stick with the light blue. I can see myself getting a headache using the dark blue with white font for any length of time. Probably my tired old eyes, but the words seemed to "scream" at me. But thank you, and everyone involved, for all the effort and time you put into giving us this "home away from home".

New font/colors are easier to read, however it is harder to find where the new posts start from where I left off last visit.

The old layout had blue squares for posts that have been read and gold squares for new posts, very easy to visually scroll to new posts.

The new layout has blue circles for posts that have been read and blue circles with a dark blue center for new posts, VERY hard to visually scroll to new posts. Any way to change the icons to different colors or shapes?

The original is better than the new for me. The white print on the dark background looks a little fuzzy to my old eyes.

Took me a minute to figure out what you were saying. When you are in a sub-forum, like The Lounge, there is either a blue dot (signifying unread posts) or no dot (no new posts). That is true everywhere.

There is only one page that appears as you describe, and that is the main forum listing page. You are correct they are two different colors of blue, light meaning no new posts, and dark meaning there are new posts in that sub forum. We get so much traffic that most of the time they are all dark blue. Except the light traffic areas of course.

I'll add this suggestion to the pile. Can't promise anything will change, but I will promise we will talk about it.

Having an internal IT guy at work, I well understand all of the effort and hard work that has gone into this change. Now this is a change I can live with! Thanks to all involved and may you find blessings in all that you do!

First thoughts are I like it - I will play with it for a bit and see if I still like it in the evenings. Thanks for all your efforts to improve the forum. You have done a great job with things as a whole.
