New FPC in the house

I first tried a old 2-7 handgun scope and its worked fine mounted at the start of the FFT like a scout scope but not practical and my wife liked the romeo 7 dot optic . Just remember with a dot optic use an aim point in a contrasting color thats about one inch larger than what your dot cover at a given distance . 2moa Red dot covers 1" at 50 yards so try a 2" black aim point . If you can see a black right around the red dot fire .

7 powers more than enough for 50 yards IF you can get close enough to a normal rifle scope with there typically short 3.5" eye relief .

Okay, sooooo mixed results. 100 yards was not horrible but, not quite what I expected. I guess I should have expected it. I was using S&B Brass 115gr. 50 yards came out better. And of course it is still dynamite at 25 and 10.

I did have a problem, the scope was way too low. I think the rings were 1" and should have been 1.5-2". Also, I couldn't get the turret to get the cross hairs to align with the bullet hits.

It might be possible to try other ammo and get a better result but, not sure I care to go down that rabbit hole. I did buy a box or Hornady sub sonic 147gr XTP. Supposedly it is 975fps at the muzzle but, I would assume that it was a little more in my FPC. They didn't do very well at 50.

My take-away, it will do in a pinch at 100 but, really shines between 0-50.

I hunted with a 2moa ultra dot on a 8" DW revolver for years and I could still manage to place 6 rounds inside a 4" group at 100 yards and that was my zero . Just go a pick the right optic for the need and a scopes not really a good idea on the 9mm carbine .

Mine with the 2moa red dot shoot 1.5" to 2.25" with several different 124gr and 147gr standard velocity ammo .

Not gonna use it for hunting. As I posted above, I just wanted to see how accurate it is at 100 yards. I have no plans on hunting with it, no plans on putting a scope on it. The dot and iron sights I have are more than good for what it was intended, plinking and self defense.

I'm sure you do , like more blast around you and to the sides .
I've seen ,a, heard the tandemkross and a few other brands at a rifle range I use to visit model from near by on different 9mm carbines and ar15's . Just my feelings .

I really like the Tandemkross compensator:

Game Changer PRO Compensator for 9mm | TANDEMKROSS

I do notice a difference using it on my FPC.

Not an indoor range gun. I use it for steel challenge and it does help. In contrast the same compensator on my Ruger PC Carbine doesn't make an appreciable difference. The FPC is much lighter in the front than the Ruger.

Hunting !! with a 9mm never entered my mind . I only used the 2-7 pistol scope just to see what it might do also . Not even adding flip up sights , only the romeo 7 as ours is a fun gun for my wife .

Personally I prefer the extra barrel weight on a AR9 and not a fan of the PC carbine. I find the AR9 or at least the one I assembled swings smoother between targets . Good luck in the SC matches .

Sorry but please excuse me, I also had no idea what a FPC is. Temped to get some sort of 9 mm carbine as my son has a Ruger. He loves it . Thought about one of those but my gunsmith let me shoot his 10 mm AR , done deal for me.

Search S&W M&P FPC site and check out the many you tube videos. For my wife who is 68 and 5-2 our AR9 carbine was getting to heavy for fun time on our range . The FPC is a lite fun gun my wife can enjoy . For more serious needs we have other better suited AR15's .

If you already carry a M&P full size or compact 9mm and want a lite carbine that can use mags you already have and fold up if that matters the FPC may be the right choice . Other wise there a lot of real deals on other brands in other cartridges out there .

You might look at highpoint carbine for a lower cost and buy one in a choice cartridges from 380 , 9mm, 40 , 45 &10mm and there +P rated . Talk to your gunsmith buddy Maybe an AR carbine like a S&W M&P 15 sport II .

impressive

Okay, so I have had an itch that was in need of scratching. I know what the accuracy of the FPC on the close up stuff. With just a dot sight or the pop-up sights I am confident up to probably about 50 yards. I have now switched out those sights for an old Weaver 2-7 scope that was on an old 270 Win. I am going to sight it in and then take it out to 100yrds. Gonna see just how accurate it can be. Of course this is an older scope so it will not be a modern 6-24 kind of magnification but, it should still give me a good idea.

Guy on Youtube has a video shooting ballistics gel standard 115gr ball with both the FPC and the SUB2000 at 400yrds with freaking iron sights like a beast and the results show 100% lethal penetration, Super impressive!
After seeing that I ripped my Holosun HS510C and replaced it with a Primary Arms SLx microprism 1x with the 9mm reticle gonna try see how it runs zeroed in at 200yds and add a flip to side magnifier and we will see hoping to maintain perfect CQB with viable distance option.

How did you get that prism optic close enough for that short 3.6" ideal eye relief even though PA say its ok out to 7", Not good but suppose to be ok . 400 yards of practical use ! good luck .

Red Dot for SW FPC

I would suggest a Bushnell Trophy TRS 25, solidity built Red Dot at an excellent price & super warranty . Yu can pay more ,but the Trophy-TRS 25 will do the job better than more expensive models . I have one & its shoots great !

Same here!

+1 for the TRS-25, I run quite a few of these on various rifles including AKs and a VZ-58, all mounted on the handguards over the pistons, never had an issue and they see a lot of heat & recoil.

I've had a few different 9mm AR carbines and weight is definitely a factor. The FPC is a featherweight in 9mm PCCs, only a pound heavier than my Sub2k which is as light as it gets.
