Hi Everyone!

A New Member here from Upstate NY, though I still call Southern Illinois home.
I just purchased my first S&W semi-auto today, and since I’m new to semis, I figured I’d join in anticipation of questions I might have. I went to my LGS today to look at 1911’s, and ended up buying this early Model 39. I love old guns, and this scratched the itch I had for a blues commander size 1911. I know it’s not a 1911, but I think I’ll be happy with it. I love old guns, and even though this one is in pretty good shape, I like knowing that it has a history.
Anyways, happy to be here and learn from you folks!

Good choice and the price pretty decent too. You will be glad you bought it. Was my first back in 74. Might have been a 39-2 back then. Gun looks to be in very good condition.

Welcome from central NY state (Mohawk Valley).I have a 39-2. It’s my favorite 9mm. Never had a jam and it is easy to carry, easy to hold, and easy to shoot. Just a great all around pistol. Yours looks in fine shape, and is an early one with the long extractor.

Yeah, I can’t find an exact date for it. I know it’s pre-71 since it’s not the 39-2, but I can’t find a date range for it’s 67xxx SN. Not a big deal though. Thanks for the info.
