Hello from NJ.

I'll be heading to Florida in a couple of weeks to set up a transfer for my Dad's NYPD service revolver to my range in New Jersey. It's been sitting on a closet shelf since he retired 25 years ago. I have no idea what model it is, but he joined the force in 1960. One thing I do know is that it'll probably need to be taken apart, cleaned and lubricated. My earliest memory of him and his guns, were when he used to bring me to the range when he qualified. I was probably 5 years old.

His wife called me from Florida letting me know that she wants me to have it, she also said "I found a small loaded revolver in his desk drawer." I told her that it was probably his off duty revolver. She had one of my Dad's friends clean it for her, and she wants to keep it for herself. I'm going to give her some safety and operating lessons when I'm down there and try and talk her into taking a safety course.

I'll probably be asking a lot of questions here when I take it apart. I'm also a member of the Ruger forum, New Jersey Gun forums and New Jersey hunter forums.

Hey thanks. I'm sure you can agree that growing up with a father who was an LEO was a pretty cool experience to say the least.
Thanks all for the welcome!
