You did not ask for it, yet S&W produced it. I present to you, the PC Meme Gun in Gold!

Performance Center(R) M&P(R)380 SHIELD™ EZ(R) M2.0™ Gold Ported Barrel | Smith & Wesson

For hardcore S&W fans, I do not see how this helps the brand image of the Performance Center and S&W. The 380 Ez is a good seller and it is aimed at new shooters, the non-enthusiast crowd if you will. I cannot see the link between the group of people that would buy a regular 380 Ez and the people that are customers of the Performance Center.

The frustrating bit is the lack of M2.0 Optics ready pistols...
My speculation is that now S&W has an optics division, they are waiting to finalize the Crimson Trace CTS-1200 and have enough to ship to distributors so that they can do a simultaneous launch of the M2.0 with it and or cut specifically for it (a la Sig P320 RX).

I just want a compact M2.0 in 9mm with a factory cut for optics so I can put an Aimpoint Acro on it...

PC 380

Sigh, more evidence of a by-gone era. Lets see how many ways we can dress up plastic guns, slap a PC label on them and pump them out.
Its been a long sad decline from the PC of the 90's that would turn out CQB's, shorty .40's, awesome revolvers, PC5906 's .
I guess its just today's reality

I gotta agree with Steve.

Who is this pistol really for?

The 380 EZ is designed and marketed towards new shooters and or people with physical infirmities. Those aren't exactly the type of people who seek out customized bling guns.

We all may be missing the possibility that this new Meme Gun from the Performance Center is for the instagram crowd. The same crowd that brought us "confidence drills," temple pistol indexing and sped up videos that show a sub one second draw from concealment and hit on target at five yards...

I just want the internal lock deleted... and that optics cut M2.0, and factory 24 round magazines for the M&P...

There is a market for these customized semiautos. Usually they are based on the Glock 19 and three times the price of the donor gun. The plating is to reduce wear (wink, wink) and the holes in the slide to reduce mass for faster cycling.

Steve your complaints are noted by the Company and may be grounds to detain you in a reeducation canter

Rather than a Black 5" 2 .0, CORE 2.0, or an M&P in 10mm, we get...a Gucci Glock! Yeah, no thanks...

I love the Gold trim. It’s ABB, Anything But black. I didn’t want an ez until now. I also love Sig’s rainbow titanium.

That one isn't for me but had it been available in December my wife would have been all over it when we got her EZ for her. She doesn't like plain black guns, wants them dressed up a bit.

That's why a couple of years ago I had to spend the extra coin for her Ruger LC9s with the chromed laser engraved slide. You know what? I don't care. If that's what it takes for her to be more comfortable having a defensive gun by her side, it's a win.

Every time a new gun comes out there's a flood of people saying "who is this for?" or my personal favorite "it's an answer to a question no one asked" and then sit back and watch sales take off.

Guys, let's come to terms here... you are not all crotchety old folks who just keep it simple. Truth is you gun guys LOVE new stuff, even when it's almost the same as your old stuff. People KEEP BUYING IT because we LIKE it, that's why these manufacturers just keep making more stuff and bringing new things to SHOT show every year. The market eats it up!

There's nothing wrong with that.

Anyhow... I for one LOVE the 380 EZ and I would love the performance center version even more. First thing I do once I move to a free state is buy one of these.

Even some new shooters and people with physical infirmities like gold barrels and accents. Just so you don't have to wonder anymore...

Thanks to the moderators for getting rid of the racist comments, I'm very thankful that the people in charge around here nip that in the bud to make this a welcome forum for all.

Totally agree. The OP was clickbait to begin with, and omitted the fact these new PC models are being offered with three (3) finishes…black, silver, OR gold. These new models have some outstanding added features for a fair price. Rest assured, there will be some buyers who want the gold--and this won’t tarnish the “brand image.”

If I didn't already own .380 EZ I would purchase the silver version of this gun. Truth to be told I'd rather it were all black but the silver is acceptable and matches my necklace/bracelet.
