Hi all, big S&W 1911 fan here originally from the west of Scotland (near Glasgow) though I have spent a lot of time in the US especially the south, I spent some time living in MS. I now live near the Costa Del Sol in the Málaga province of Andalucía in the subtropical south of Spain.

I have been raised with guns through my dad who was an avid gun enthusiast and hunter. I continue to shoot and now bow hunt here in Spain. I also represent a hunting company as their events team throughout countries in Europe giving seminars and workshops to gun hunters and people who are interested in learning the art of bow hunting. I am now looking to acquire a nice 1911 pro series to shoot here.

It's nice to be here!

Take it easy :D

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

Exacto...lo conoces?

Yes, well a little. I am familiar with a lot of regions here in Spain though i´ve never been up north...well not yet. I know it´s not as hot as down here and very different culture, language wise etc. I would like to explore Galicia because it has Celtic connections and is quite similar to Scotland. :D

Welcome aboard! I have fond memories of Torremolinos. The recollections are fading, as it has been over 30 years, but I had a great time there. In fact, I recently found all my photos of the Alcazaba and cathedral. Cheers!

Wow we are 50 minutes from there up north in the quieter parts, not really "touristy" like the Costa del Sol but we have the seaside resort of Torre del Mar and Nerja a couple of minutes away by car and the mountains/lakes.

It is a different culture, and the language can be a challenge. Both my grandparents "escaped" from Galicia due to their politics; Franco had them all on his radar. What remaining family I have there are still fighting the good fight. ;)

I don't blame them, many Spanish that could have escaped fled to Germany too. Though Spain has changed so much now as with democracy and being a member of the E.U. Like a totally different country :)

Down here is nice, I love the climate and the laid back lifestyle, the beaches and the traditional towns :)

I've been coming to Spain (Cataluña, Mallorca and la Costa Blanca) for 24 years, lots of foreigners here due to the climate and food, way of life. I still miss Scotland but due to the obvious pros I wouldn't go back.

Yes....what I wouldn't give for a mountain of homemade paella and zartzuela made by my aging cousin right now.

Welcome 1911Girl, from Rhode Island. Would love to visit Scotland again if only for the SSDT. North of Spain would be OK in the Barcelona area where Trials is a way of life.

I sound just like everyone else really. I speak like the locals and I teach English here. The Scottish accent is one of the most sought after for teaching English here especially amongst schools, universities etc because of the way we pronounced the words.

Have you been down here? Summers can be hell, but winters are quite mild. In the north they´re having lots of snow.

I could relate to that. I figure a pretty lil' filly with a Scottish accent can pretty much have anything I've got if she wants it. Oh, heck...an old, bitter, overweight crone could pretty much have her way with me if she had that accent....LOL!

Welcome from Texas 1911Girl. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
