I recently got a new grip (stocks) and holster for my circa 1973 Model 58.

The grip is a Hogue Monogrip in tulipwood. It was a bit hellish to install, but boy is this grip comfortable! I think it looks pretty darn good too! :)

The holster is a model that has quickly become a favorite of mine, the Lobo Gun Leather Combat Classic! It boasts absolutely first class construction and allows for the comfortable wear of even a heavy revolver like the Smith & Wesson N-frame. I love this holster!

Why was the grip difficult to install? Did you have to modify it to get it to fit? Looks good from here.

Thanks, Larry!

The metal stirrup used by these Monogrips was a tight fit and I was scared to death of splitting or otherwise damaging the wood getting the grip on. I've installed many of the Hogue rubber Monogrips in the past, but this was my first experience with one of their $80 exotic wood versions. Actually, the installation was more tense than difficult. :D

No, there was no modification necessary.

Simply beautiful. Congratulations. Now, go shoot & tell us how much better you are with the new Hogues. (of course they get all the credit. ;)

I'm watching the grandson today, but am planning to try to get to the range on Monday. :)

That looks like a dandy combination you've got there Steve. I am curious if the extra height of those Hogues soaks up some of the recoil and roll of the heavy 41's.

Keep us posted.

And tell the boys at Lobo they did make a fine looking rig.

Thanks a bunch, amigo!

I'll let you know how things go at the range with the new grips. ;)

I'm thinking of getting the non-fingergroove Hogue tulipwood grip for my 586.
Hogue's groove spacing does not fit my sausage-fingers, but the ungrooved version looks like it will be a good fit.

Those are some gorgeous stocks(stock?) you have.

Yeah, that's the bad thing about finger groove grips. They really limit the number of shooters who can comfortably use them. Fortunately for me, the Hogue finger grooves fit my fingers nicely. :)

Wow, gorgeous set up all around!

The gun, the holster and the stocks are all gorgeous.

Magnas just don't make sense on an N Frame in my opinion.

I love the wood. It is amazing!

Thank you, Tom! I appreciate it!

I feel very fortunate that whichever Hogue employee got the job of picking my order appears to have taken the time to find one for me with excellent grain and color OR it was just dumb luck that I got the one I did. Either way, I think I ended up with an exceptionally nice example. :)

I would like to pick up a smooth set myself. I have 1 set for my 625 JM. I like the looks of finger grooves (combats) but none ever fit me right. Most of my Smiths wear target grips! Bob

Nice looking rig, but that's not grain in the wood. Just a result of sanding the contours into the different layers of the laminate. I'd imagine most would look quite similar.

Laminated wood! Of course!

Works for me!

..NICE...and now you can stop that silly talk about selling it!!!

I have the same set of grips but mine are laminated...they are currently on a 657 4" but were at one time on the 58...

Original rubber Hogues..

Nice looking setup you have there.

As much as I like to keep things "original", the service Magnas leave a little to be desired when shooting full-house loads.

Very, very nice, Bob!

Yeah, I agree. This revolver isn't going anywhere any time soon. :)
