Had a little surplus in my gun budget so I pulled the trigger (pun intended!) on this 3", 629 deluxe. LGS found one and ordered it for me. When I got it home, I noticed that there was a crack in the grips and that they seemed to be warped. I called Springfield and they said "no problem". It was just before the company did their yearly shutdown and the CS guy warned me that there would be a delay but if I send the grips in, they would replace them. New ones came in the mail a couple of days ago and fit fine. In the mean time, I slicked up the trigger and put on some Hogue rubber grips. Of course the gun shoots great! I used 240 LSWC in a light load and some 240 grain JSP barn burners. I was surprised at how behaved this gun is! I think this is going to be my new north woods trail gun.

My son gave me one just like like yours for Christmas. I've had it out twice and fired about 200 rounds so far. I've stuck to light loads but next time it goes out it'll loaded with some barn burners. You just can't beat the "wow factor" of a snub on H110.

And BTW, the right grip panel was cracked on mine when it came out of the box.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the wooden grips but it almost seems like the wood dried out on mine causing the grips to crack and warp. I'm not sure that is possible with the laminated wood used but I'm not a wood working expert. That's just what it looks like to me.

My "hot" load is 24.5 grains of H110 with a CCI magnum primer and a 240 grain JSP. That is about the upper end for H110 I think but in my 44's, they shoot very well and there is no problem with flattened primers or hard extraction. Light load is 5.0 grains of 231 with a 240 grain lead semi wad cutter. I like the Speer swaged bullets but use cast bullets when I can't get the Speers.
