New gun purchasing

this all makes much more sense now. you have a sigma and you bought your wife a ruger. think that about covers it.

To basicly clean a Rev. you don't need to take it apart. you just need to open it. That was not my point. My point is when you want to buy a gun as if you are buying a car, as one of the replies said, do you say to the sales man, "wow, thats a really nice red car". then buy it? Of course not. Yoy always look under the hood, no necessarily take the car apart, but look under the hood. Same thing here. I want to look under the slide to make sure the gun is not made from Lego's. Is that so hard to get a grasp on? when you buy a $500,000 house do you say "yup, that's a house here is you money" or do you inspect the house and have someone else inspect the house AND even take the BOLD step of walking inside the house. God knows that would be a cardinal sin. Get my point yet? Geeze!!

V 16, Welcome. Now, your original post states "I bought a Llama .45 for 1/3 the price of a Colt. I got took because of the lack of 'transparency' on the part of the salesman." Stoeger imported those guns for years and their reputation WAS below Taurus. At least you didn't buy the Llama.45 Omni which is nothing like a 1911 and barely resembles a firearm (although the ad in the 1984(?) Shooter's Bible, a Stoeger publication) made it look like something out of "Buck Rogers". Look at it as the price of tuition in the "I shouldn't have bought that gun" club (see thread with that name). Sell it or trade it for one you want, the bruise($$$) heals quickly. If you ask a bunch of S&W aficionados about the virtues of a "Brand X", it's going to get interesting. Especially since most have a tale of woe about "should have known better." I have been slapped upside the head by the curmudgeons around here more than once. I hear it stops after 10 years. PS, I like your sig line. Joe

I like your sig line. Joe
So do I. I perfer S&W for the Made in America and lifetime warranty. I like Hi-Point for the same thing. Many people have nothing but bad to say about HP. I have found at least with mine they are accurate and fire any rounds i put into them, never had a jam or misfire, they are inexpensive and reliable. I have out shot many of the higher quality brands with them.

But never, ever take one apart;) The company will actually clean them for you if you send it to them.

actally they are really easy to take apart, both of them. I have a C9 and the 4095 carbine. As i said in previous post, I tear all of my guns down after shooting and clean thuroughly.
