New Guy, First Gun.

Hey there! Just got my M&P 15-22 about 3 weeks ago and it's my first gun. Me and a friend were both thinking about getting M&P 15 Sports but he got a 15-22 first (although his wife has since claimed it as her own) and after I shot it I changed my mind. It just seemed to make more sense for me as it is my first gun and I don't know a whole lot about them. Plus it does everything I was going to get the the Sport for only cheaper. The day I got it I also bought a second 25 round mag, a plastic carrying case, a foregrip and a box of 525 CCI Blazer ammo. I also bought a Truglo red dot site a couple of days later and a set of Ergo handguard covers. So far I've only put about 10 25 round mags through it but it had no issues whatsoever. I read that the 15-22 uses standard AR15/M4 grips so I ordered a Magpul MIAD grip set for it, hope it fits.

Any advice you guys and girls can give a first time gun owner would be appreciated. Thanks.

The MIAD is going to give you a little trouble. There isn't a good place for the rear pin spring to rest. The front spring (safety) is fine. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, check this thread out before you remove anything. Crawling around on the floor looking for tiny parts to put your new rifle back together is not fun.

You can use the conical end of a toothpick as a perch for the spring. It sounds hokey, but it works well.

excellent choice and congrats! always good to hear from a first time gun owner.
the only advice i have for you is always wear hearing protection. years of shooting without muffs have taken its toll on my hearing

Welcome aboard, you made a very good decision on the M&P 15/22, not only will you be happy with the rifle but you will have more fun at the range and not break the bank doing it. Also you will learn about shooting, shooting skills and I hope gun safety. Then you will be a part of the American citizens that understand good gun ownership. I love seeing a smarter gun owning citizen than one that allows our government to put restriction on GOOD CITIZENS for the crimes of the very few. Keepem in the 10 ring and if you have questions, hit up this forum for it has plenty of wise gun owners who will share their knowledge to get you where ever you want as a gun owner.. Yeah, it's bagged. Lays frame actually. 1963 GMC 3/4 ton. Originaly a 305 V6 now a 383 small block V8.

Killer! Those older Toyotas look so good laid out. I'm currently helping a friend bag a 67 C10 longbed for his wife.

I need to see a pic of the 67 when you get the time. I've got love for the small windows too. My father just sold the all original and beautiful 68 longbed 3/4 ton I thought I would get someday. That thing would have looked good tuckin half of the lug nuts inside the fenders.

Suicidedoors.com got every dollar I made when I was getting into slammed trucks.

When you get your 15-22 done, you should take a pic of them together and post it in the "two of my favorite things thread.
