Hey all,
New guy here. I recently purchased a 15-22 because my SR556 is getting too expensive to shoot as much as I like to shoot. I'm finding that practicing with the 15-22 really does help the muscle memory when I transition back over to the SR556.
Anyway, purchased it on 4/3/2012, and I've already put 1431 rounds thru it. Here are the round break outs:
4/3 - 50 rounds Remington Golden Bullet 36 gr ,all flawless.
4/3 - 50 rounds Winchester Wildcat 40 gr, all flawless.
4/3 - 50 rounds Winchester Xpert HP 36 gr, all flawless.
4/3 - 50 rounds Fed Champion 36 gr, 1 misfire (bullet)
200 rounds right out of the box, with one misfire, and it was the bullets fault! I then cleaned it.
4/9 450 rounds...Winchester Xpert 36 gr. A few misfeeds due to son in law not loading the mags correctly!
Cleaned again.
4/23 - 156 rounds Winchester Wildcat, flawless
4/23 - 100 rouunds Fed Champion, flawless
4/23 - 150 rounds Winchester Xpert, some misfeeds, FTF, etc.
4/28 - 375 rounds Fed Champion 36 gr, some misfeeds.
At this point I had put almost 800 rounds thru it without a cleaning...and it was filthy! So I cleaned it up nice.
I like the Remington Golden Bullets the best, followed by the Federal Champions, only because they are much cleaner. The lead bullets run nice, but the barrel gets filthy afterwards. It pretty much eats anything I put thru it. 1431 rounds so far! I just picked up some CCI AR Tactical (375 rounds) in 40 gr and I'm going to try them.
My rifle is stock with a Magpul AFG, a GripPod (fake) and a Barska 3-9x42 IR Contour scope. It has an illuminated reticle, and I bought it for $40 new, just temporarily...but I really like it and it holds zero well. I have 4 mags for it, all 25 rounders. Here are some pics. I figure that at the cost of the ammo (So far I've shot about $70 of ammo thru it), compared to the cost of 5.56 ammo (About $600 worth if shooting the 5.56, same 1431 rounds)...I've PAID for the rifle with my ammo savings! It is the funnest gun I have and I still shoot my others, but after I'm done shooting my others (15 minutes) I then spend another hour or two shooting the 15-22. It is awesome. Here are the pics:
