New handguard?

The converter threads onto the barrel where the old barrel nut was and then the delta ring assembly threads on to the outside of the converter. The screw goes through the gas tube hole in the end cap into the has tube hole in the sight base and then the sight base is clamped on to the barrel. All that's left at this point is to snap the handguard in and sight it in again.

Hmm ok seems easy enough and I have two things,
1. That screw doesnt fit through the gas tube hole in the sight base
2. Whats that gear looking thing in front of the delta ring?

Thread the adapter on first and tighten it. Then install the delta ring assembly. next, put the screw through the gas tube hole in the handguard cap and into the gas tube hole in the front sight base. Slide the front sight base into place and tighten the screws. Install the handguard and sight it in at the range.

Ok thanks for the help. I'll post the results when the stuff arrives and I do it right (hopefully).

the screw will take some force to drive in to the sight base, it has to tap the hole as it goes in. If you have a1/4-20 tap, you can tap the gas tube hole and then thread the screw in. The star looking thing in front of the delta ring is the AR barrel nut. It holds the delta ring on. Mine came with the delta ring assembly. You're almost there.

Too bad you're not here in AZ. It'd be easy to have you come over and get you squared away. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Wait do I need the ar barrel nut? My delta ring didn't come with one

Yes, you will need an AR barrel nut. If I remember right, the delta ring and wave spring slide on to the outside of the barrel nut and then the snap ring goes in the groove on the barrel nut to retain them.

So just to be clear, I need the delta ring assembly, the barrel nut and the free float adapter?

I got my front sight base yesterday (I only ordered it Tuesday) and I think that we'll have to run a tap through it to get the screw into the gas tube hole. I'm going to pick up a new tap on break today. .50, if you want to send me your FSB and handguard endcap, I'll tap the gas tube hole and send it back to you. If you want to, just PM me. I can't wait to mount the new sight tomorrow and take new family pictures with big brother. I can probably even find a spare barrel nut for you.

Aww I ordered a barrel nut already, oh well. I'm gonna try something else first and if it doesn't work I'll send it to you. It'll be up and running by the end of Wednesday if all goes well (tracked my handguard and it's running late). Thanks for the offer

No problem. I'll take pictures as I do mine. Let me know if I can help.

If you haven't started tapping for the 1/4-20 hole, DON'T. Looking at the sight, we will have to use a smaller screw. I'll figure out which size works best and let you know. I think that tapping for 1/4-20 would remove too much material and would weaken the sight.

10-24 is the size you want. I was able to drive it into the steel sight without tapping the hole first. Make sure to get a socket head, not one with a phillips or slotted head. I'll post pictures later. I have to go in to town and get another carbine-length MOE handguard before I loctite it and boresight it.

Any certain length we need?

I found a screw thats the size but its a philips head screw (flat bottom) and its 3/4" long. Any reason why it won't work?
If it has to be a socket head I could just go into town and get one from home depot

Edit: it goes through the handguard cap and the fsb with no protruding in other words it fits perfectly

I you drive it all the way in, there's nothing wrong with it. I recommended socket head because the allen keys used to drive them are less susceptible to stripping than phillips. Keep us posted on your results.

tacticool22 hit this one on the head. You can't go wrong with his free float adapter. Here is mine with a MOE handguard. I used a clamp on quad-rail gas block, but am ging to switch it out for an A2 front sight from True Sight Technologies.

You are going to love the A2 sight from TrueShotTechnologies. I have one of the first ones and they just simply rock. Great choice. Give us some photos when you install it.
