Been looking for a beater pistol to serve as a backup to my Glock 17. After some research I decided to take a chance on a used sigma. Just got back from shooting 150 trouble-free rounds of cheapo steel cased monarch through it and I am one happy ***. My observations:

Better looking in person than in photos but still kind of ugly
Feels great in my hands - easy to shoot
Trigger no where near as bad as it's made out to be. No need to fix it. I'm not gonna do anything to it except shoot the piss out of it
Way more accurate than I was expecting it to be
Bit concerned about the sights, don't seem as durable as the plastic sights on my 908

I need to try it with my handloads first but I'm pretty sure that this sigma is going to far exceed my expectations. One of those rare occasions when I feel like I got more than my money's worth.

Your hand loads should work fine. I've loaded lead, jacketed, JHPs, it shoots everything. This gun has got to be one of the best 'bang' for the buck there is!

Hell, a new one is like $300-$325. I'd say good buy at around $250. There is a reason Glock sued, the Sigma works. Most people talk bad about the Sigma but few have owned/shot one. There is a trigger kit should you want to lighten it up a little. All in all sounds like a good deal, congrats.

I sure love mine. I did do the spring thing, new guide rod and spring and one other mod to reduce trigger free travel. Only other thing I plan on doing is replacing the front sight to try and aleaveate the low and left problem.
Mine has been happy with anything that I've fed it.

Just got my Walter Craig sale paper today...Sigmas are
$279.95 this weekend.

Low and left? Sweeet baby jesus i thought it was me! I just bought the SD40VE yesterday and shot it today. Absolutely love it! Shoots nicer than my 457. According to the owners manual the rear is adjustable bit not the front. Is this true?

Yes this is true. The front sight site is not adjustable but it can be replaced with a lower hi-viz site. This will help with the low POI.

Well i shot some more at the range and it was me,not the gun shooting low and left. Probably that hard trigger pull, and i was pulling the gun down a nd left when shooting. Kept an eye and that and with 150rds through it now i can group at 21ft real good. Lovin this gun more the more i shoot it.

The sigma 9 works well for me. Seems the more I shoot it the better it gets. As a new gun owner and shooter I have to expect this , but the gun has yet to jam or not work . I have shot maybe 500 rounds or more through it and it has been flawless. I would say even with the trigger reworked softer, the gun is very well worth the 300 dollars that I spent for it. Yes I have troubles with low / left but I have seen it right on the money too ! So Id say that issue could very well be ME, some !! Still learning the gun but very happy with it too. Its a keeper in my book.

I used to have the low and left with my 9VE but I benchrest tested it and it grouped around the bullseye so it wasn't the gun.

About 1600 rounds so far and still hungry for more. :)

my sigma 9

My first gun is a sigma 9. Bought it 4 years ago. It is the only semi-auto I have left. Owned Bersa,Glock, and Ruger semi autos and got rid of them all. Sigma only one I have left and have no plans to get rid of it. Has worked flawlessly since day one. Early in the year I was considering getting the 40 cal. when I realized they changed to the new version. I love my smiths, but I have to question why they need to change something that works so well?
